i've just read something that said steyn has bowled as quick as 149.3km/h, not sure if ntini is faster or not though. previously south africa have had hayward and ngam who bowled pretty quick. how fast is harmison? i've heard simon jones use to bowl in the 150s, not sure about nowadays though.

Srinath clocked 149.7 in the 1999 World Cup and has an unconfirmed 156 kmph from 1996/7.

3.5 Tait to Vincent, no run, Wow! 160 k per hour. That one was really furious. Wonder what he ate for the breakfast. Full, swinging in and drifts on to pads. Obviously, beaten for pace

"More than probably 100 miles per hour". And you know how animated commentators can be specially glorifying the home team.

Actually, England and South Africa (and even Sri Lanka, I think) have a few bowlers in their domestic leagues who are a hell lot faster than many of those who make it to the national team. They don't make it to the top level because of high competition. In a country like Pakistan, India or Bangladesh, where fast bowlers are hard to come by, you would probably see them featuring in the test/odi XI's.

fast bowlers are hard to come by in bangladesh, sri lanka, and india (your vegetarian countries) but in pakistan they have always been there - or been there much longer than the rest of the subcontinent.
recently however, even india and sri lanka are generating legit fast bowlers. agarkar, sreesanth, munaf, and zaheer have all hit 90 mph for india (not to mention balaji and others) and in SL, you have malinga and maharoof who can hit 140 k. and of course fernando is the fastest lankan of all.
bangladesh really only has 4 bowlers of any measurable pace, 2 of which are out of the national team for a long time (tapash and talha). but i reckon both mashrafee and shahadat can reach 90 mph. mashrafee has already done so, whilst shahadat has hit 88 mph on bouncers (full length balls have a higher pace reading). if short balls hit 88, i think shahadat can hit 90 on fuller balls and if he can't he probably will soon.
fast bowling up to a certain point is about genes and diet. but once you have a basic speed capability (say around 85 mph on up) its more about attitude. those bowlers who want to bowl fast and kill the opposition (sreesanth, tait, malinga, shahadat) generally will suceed in clocking fast deliveries than those without that killer instinct (mashrafee, mahroof, zaheer khan - bowlers who are well capable of clocking 140+ but rarely do).

Chacha is the quickest ever, followed by Arafat "থল্ থল্" Salauddin. Speed guns are faulty, all of them, and a part of the global Masonic conspiracy to undermine the aforementioned speedsters.

Any idea what is the quickest wicket taking delivery ? None of the 160 kmph deliveries mentioned in this thread claimed a wicket.

just for confirmation from the earlier question about mitchell johnson reducing his speed, i saw him bowl a ball just over 150km/h today and he's been consistently bowling in the mid 140s.
