I agree, Sherlock was fantastic. Unfortunately, Season 2 will only be out in 2012 but the 3 episodes that are lined up should be good. They're going to be based on: A Scandal in Bohemia, The Hound of the Baskervilles and the Final Problem
Another show that I would really recommend is Broadwalk Empire. I checked it out because the pilot was created by Martin Scorsese and I wasn't disappointed. They do a really good job in depicting the atmosphere of the Prohibition Era in the United States and the acting of Steve Buscemi as Nucky Thompson is fantastic.
I watch the above mentioned all except the Castle.
Btw, I recently started watching British comedies and they are much much better than American counterparts. So far I watched Green Wings, Spy, Whites, Coupling, Inbetweeners. You will find most of them in Hulu. Can anyone suggest more British shows?

There are plenty! It also depends on which era of comedy you're looking for? In recent times, more than sitcoms, I watch comedy shows like Mock the Week, Argumental and QI. They have a channel called Dave, just for comedies and stand up - maybe you can access their programmes in America? http://uktv.co.uk/dave/homepage/sid/7500
Among the older programmes, I'd really recommend Blackadder, Yes Minister, Yes Prime Minister, Fawlty Towers, A Bit of Fry & Lauries, Jeeves and Wooster, Only Fools and Horses, Mind your Language, etc. The comedy is much wittier (and scathing) than in the US. (Well, except for the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Colbert Report and occasionally Family Guy and the Simpsons)

Those who are 24 fans.. the movie has been approved yesterday and the shooting will start in Spring.
I know its subjective but really? I dont think Dexter and 24 are better than shows like The Wire( considered the greatest show of all time), Six Feet Under(this show makes you legit depressed), Sopranos, Breaking bad. I am not saying they are bad shows. Just doesnt compare to the other shows I mentioned. But again just my opinion. Each to their own.

No wonder there are too many TV series to satisfy ppl like you and I . I am into action, thriller, suspense, not so much of drama but sometimes.... Do any of your recs come with any of these?. If so, I might grab a few.
I'd suggest you guys watch Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Game of Thrones.
Comedy; I watch BBT, Two and a Half Men, How i met your Mother and Blue Mountain State.
@mufi_02 - Try The IT Crowd. 6-episode seasons, 20-minute episodes. Good stuff. A little lame and obvious, but funny nonetheless.
@Zee bhai - White Collar is a cool show on that similar note, have you heard of Burn Notice?
I've heard a LOT about Game of Thrones, would like to start watching, but it's tedious enough to follow 4 TV shows weekly with Bangladeshi DL speed :/ I'll try and get the DVD of the old seasons.
Castle is brilliant - I just haven't been able to get over Stana Katic since I first laid my eyes upon her on Flowers For Your Grave.
TBBT has been an all-time favorite and the writers of Modern Family are pretty good too!
On the issue of Two and a half man, I watched that show for Charlie Sheen, so don't have the drive to watch it anymore.

The Wire is considered the greatest show of all time. It might not be what you usually like but when a show is considered the greatest shouldnt you check it out regardless?
But ya watch Breaking Bad. I can guarantee you will love it.

agree with Fahmim and NoName about Game of Thrones.
If you are science fiction/fantasy fan (look at my avatar) this show is truly amazing. One of the episode is pure masterpiece. I remember after that episode aired, everyone in media went nuts in twitter and facebook talking about it. I won't go into details as that would spoil the show for you.

Make sure you're watching it alone lol, there are some scenes that are inappropriate unless the people you live with are fine with it.
@Mufi
Which episode are you talking about?
Do you by chance read the Wheel of Time series?

Anyway I will check this book out soon and see. Thanks for the suggestion.
The Wheel of Time is a series of books. If you live in the US or UK, it's pretty easy to get all the volumes through your local library/bookstores - not so easy to find the entire series elsewhere. I remember seeing a few of the books in Etcetera a few years ago but not the entire collection.
I'd recommend reading it only if you can find all the books because (a) it's addictive and you'll want to read all of them in one go and (b) if you don't read them in one go you'll be thrown of the series abruptly and will forget intricate details after a while.
(Would be hesitant to say that it's better than Tolkien. But that may just be innate bias)
^ What Navo said, don't take a break since Jordan creates a mass complex plot, with various characters from main to even the most random commoner having a PoV in the story. So don't take a break when you get deep into the series lol.
I've read Tolkien's books, but for some reason I like WoT much better, but to each his own, although you might find the first book in the WoT series alot similar to FotR since Tolkien pretty much inspired Jordan. A quote to summarize the series-
"Jordan has come to dominate the world that Tolkien began to reveal"
Also, yes, I'm a fantasy fan.
