You have the order wrong.

You went out with Bourdain to some godforsaken place, imbibed some Weed, got Damaged, and ended up a Mad Man. The last part is so true.

I am glad Big Bang Theory didn't choose to be stuck with the same character profiles of season 1 and actually developed those relationships into the next level. One of the reasons some shows get boring is because the writers are too afraid to change things for the character. I got bored with HIMYM because even after 5 seasons we were still stuck at the same place.
Bought American Horror story season 1. Watched the first episode and it seems pretty dark. Lets see how it goes.

Those 2 kids are adopted from an orphanage and no one knows their mother. So, don't waste your time finding her.

Best shows on TV (in no particular order):
Suits
Damages
The Good Wife
The Newsroom
Downton Abbey
Game of Thrones
Boardwalk Empire
Modern Family
The Walking Dead
Scandal

I've tried for years to get into Mad Men, but just can't seem to do it. Great characters, but the lack of a plot drives me nucking futs.

thats if you don't like action (perhaps except for Game of Thrones - I am yet to watch it)

waiting for Dexter new season to start end of this month.

Any action thrillers like 24, Lost currently on and recommended?

Dexter has jumped the shark. No chance I'm watching the new season...thought the whole incest angle was really low brow and forced.

I don't necessarily get the most current US TV shows any longer where I am now currently. Among other places, I look to this thread to get a heads-up on possible new shows and then will buy them on iTunes and usually view it via Apple TV. Unfortunately not ALL the shows are on iTunes - so I will still have to fork out for cable. Interestingly we get HBO - I am intrigued by the new Sorkin Newsroom. Anyone checked it our yet?

Here's an edited 3 minute clip from the opening episode:

If anyone likes a good sci-fi show 'Falling Skies' is not that bad, but I warn you the writing/acting in some parts is pretty bad, especially in season 1, but atm it is the best one out there. Pretty new and just finished its second season.

For others who enjoy horror/adventure like 'Supernatural' you can try out 'Grimm', its pretty new and is only in its second season. Its premise is like Supernatural but instead features a cop and uses the original dark Grimm fairy tales as basis of the show.

I tried Supernatural despite the warning from the cover and I have to see that it is one of the worst shows I have seen. The stories are all borrowed and the story arc was pretty lame. Can't imagine how can anyone tolerate Sam's constant whining in every episode

Nothing on TV beats the old shows like Seinfield or Friends or McGuyver.

Here's an edited 3 minute clip from the opening episode:

Watched the first couple of episodes of Newsroom in July. I think the problem with the show is that the first 3.5 minutes are so good that everything after it is a let down. The cathartic moment that TV shows, books, movies etc usually try to build up to was achieved in the opening scenes of the series! After that, I felt a lot of it was anti-climatic. That put me off. Nonetheless, I have heard from those who have persevered with the show, that the most recent episodes have been an improvement.

Just watched the season premier of the final season of The Office. Great! 8/10. I loved how they filled in about everyone's summer, like they always do, except it was better. They didn't trying to feed everything from pre-settings, just for the hell of explaining it like the other movies/shows do.

They mentioned how they will finally reveal the story behind the interview cameras this season. They hinted on that.

Also last week I started watching The OC. I stumbled upon it on a site, clicked it because I remember seeing some clips on the Fox 25th Anniversary. I felt very phony seeing those clips. But holy **** I kinda like it!! Ahh! I remember how older kids would talk about it back then. I was just a kid back when it was air so never had the chance to watch it.

Also I kinda ruined it for myself reading the comments from IMDB! Marisa Cooper! Noo!! Ugh!

Found an old 2001 TV series on youtube (written and directed by Judd Apatow) that I haven't heard of before. The show is called "Undeclared" and it's really nice. Recommended for fans of Wonder Years
