Announcing: Annual BanglaCricket Awards

BanglaCricket is pleased to announce the launching of the Annual BanglaCricket Awards - awards that honor and recognize our cricketers and commemorate events of the past year. While the staff and volunteers of BanglaCricket chose the nominees, it is only fitting that the fans decide the winners. BanglaCricket after all is a fan site for all things Bangladesh cricket.

BanglaCricket has grown in leaps and bounds since its inception solely due to the passion and dedication of Bangladesh cricket fans for whom this site is. We hope that this new annual award will too grow in a similar fashion as it allows us fans to give something back to the sport and to the players that form such an integral part of our lives.

We have created a special sub-forum "BanglaCricket Awards 2007" for this year's awards. As there are 15 categories in this inaugural year, there will be 15 Poll Threads, one for each award. We would like to recognize our own Khondaker Mirazur Rahman for taking the initiative to make this happen and our dedicated staff and volunteers for poring over reams of statistics, news items and their consciences to come up with the final list of nominees.

I hope these awards eventually become well known and players are genuinely honored to receive them.

This is our beginning and we hope with time this will be the most prestigious award for the Tigers.

In the first year we are giving awards in 16 different categories. This year the awards do not carry any cash prize and only involves a certificate, but in coming years we plan to attach cash rewards with BanglaCricket Awards.

I sincerely hope members will make our first ever award initiative a major success.
