Bangladesh players should play and gain experience in domestic leagues of other countries to improve their abilities
I think it would be beneficial for the team if a few players attempted to play (domestic cricket) in India or england, or even New zealand. They will learn immensley. All greats have had this experience and then applied thier learnings towards their own team efforts. EG, ganguly, Wasim Akram at Lancashire, uk, Many Aussies are in England too. Many Sri lankans; Sangakara, jayasuria etc. It is imperative that this exposure happens soon. When this happens bangladesh cricket will progress massively, I guarantee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is not about our players wanting. this about other clubs wanting our players. At the moments no one wants them. so there is no reason for a discussion on this i think...

All good what you saying.
But first they hv to be invited by the club themselves to be playing. And to do that they need to perform first.
If our most talented, highly potential player averages 25, what do you expect from the rest?
.....and oh....
i know its just your second thread, but just go a little easy on that "new thread" button. sometimes it becomes just too infectious.
keeping an healthy ratio between the number of posts and number of threads opened could be a good way to do it.

Lets not be rude
Rabz? The points I have raised require attention, not about quantity of threads etc. Less of the rudeness and more on the discussion that the BCB need to consider. Its true that they have to get chosen but many cricket experts such as Botham and Hussain have mentioned how players like mortaza and ashraful would get in the England setup, thus I'M sure counties would consider them if they showed a little awareness and interest to enquire to play, ALSO even if they came to england for some personal coaching sessions etc, just to train with counties i'm sure counties would not deny them of this. These are all imperative steps they need to take, otherwise you will be posting repetitive threads about many future defeats in the future.

I don't think it works like that. No player just can say i want to practice with you guys and they will agree. and who will pay for the players stay at UK. also practice will not work like magic if they don't get to play...

Its a vision which might be useful but again consider not many players from Zim or NZ played in other countries, so is Srilanka. Mostly Pakis and SA and later on number of Indians did that. The domestic cricket is very very strong in those countries which made all the difference. For Zim it was an inevitable decline as the structure fell off. Bangladesh needs to ensure longer version matches for her players and resolve club cricket debacle ASAP.

one and only solution is make two separate team. one will play test and another will play ODI. Our Bd players cant differentiate between test and ODI. with two team, they can easily adopt the cricket style.
did u notice, last ODI, all players were practicing test, though it was negative approach and they failed equally.
one and only solution: separate test and ODI team

With respect wiseshah, I don't think this is the answer. The experience of other sides (australia, england etc) is that in this day and age players need to able to perform in both forms of cricket.
There will of course be certain players who don't appear well suited to one form over the other (though we should be careful about pigeon-holing players, for years people thought collingwood was nothing more than an ODI player, then he goes and scores a test double hundred against australia!) but generally we should be teaching our boys to perform well in both.
Currently BD players are not very good at either...

Ashraful ended up playing for a 3rd division team in England. I'm not sure any of the counties would want our players. Some of it probably has to do with communication skills.

Realistically, the only BD players an English county might be interested in would either be a decent spinner (like rafique, razzak or enamul) or an aftab-type player to be a 20/20 specialist (and that too is a bit of a stretch). Fast bowlers are ten-a-penny in England and most on the county staff are probabyl better than our brightest prospects!
But with only one overseas player permitted per team from the 2008 season onwards, it's highly unlikely that any BD player will play county cricket any time soon. unless ashraful has a british passport hidden somewhere...

I don't agree.
I think Players like Mashrafe, Aftab, Ashraful (as also Rafique) should have no problem finding decent county teams to play for.
The right question is - is the board even thinking on those lines.

What stupendous means? Is it anyway related to the word "stupid"? Then I agree with Pagla baba.

stupendous is similar yo "amazing" or "fantastic".
To be clear though, Ash played for a Liverpool league side (i forget the name, "rayner" or something, I'm sure some1 else will remember). Such teams only have one or two professionals playing for them, the others are all amateurs/ part -timers, ceertainly not county standard...

didn't Sakibul Hasan get an offer he rejected last year? for a genuine english county team?
ATM, if anyone even DESERVES A HALF CHANCE to play in english county cricket it is none other than Mohammad Ashraful, others...still need more consistent performances to prove themselves.
i will comment on Tamim Iqbal after this mid-september, still a long way to go. keep up the good form

IPL teams should give some of these players a chance. I mean I understand most of our players can't bat in the long version but for 20/20 players like Ash, Aftab and Tamim are hell entertaining. County teams cannot have more than 2-3 foreign players so BD players have to compete against other good players. Players from subcontient who play in the English county are mainly bowlers (ie. Naved Rana, Mushtaq A, S Mushtaq, Gul, Murali, Vaas, M. Kartik, Z. Khan, Bandara M, etc) very few batsmen get the offer. English county's management, coach, etc don't take players unless they are proven scorer and have decent technique to combat seaming and swinging conditions of England (ie. Sachin, Dravid, Sangakkara, Younis K, Ganguly, etc). Also most English batsmen playing in county bat better than our current national team's player (ie. although old but Ramprakash, Butcher, Joyce, Strauss, Hick, Phil Weston, recently retired Nick Knight, etc) In Australian league...just no possible for and BD players to make it because of the competition.

In NZ you don't get paid well and almost no one outside of NZ plays in that league. I know of three players one keeper from SA who moved there, Mal Loye from England and recently Andrew Strauss who played in their State Shield cup.

Until recently county cricket has had a cap of no more than 2 overseas players (not 3). From 2008 they will only be allowed one. The discrepency is that a lot of south africans (and other foreign players) with EU passports manage to play for counties without qualifying as an overseas player due to the "Kolpak" ruling of the european court. Under this ruling any player from an EU country or a country with which the EU has an associate relationship, has the same employment rights as Uk resident. These players do not qualify for England, but nor do they qualify as overseas players. BD players would not qualify under Kolpak. If they did, then I'm sure a few of them (probably spinners) could play county cricket...
Although a fine player in his youth, I don't think you can compare Phil Weston with the likes of Hick, ramps and Butcher!

The 5 pillars of progress: -
1. Sporting tracks.
2. More serious, better merchandized, promoted and covered FC and List A cricket with age-based, multi-tiered teams (A, U19, U15), and quality coaches, physios and facilities.
3. Increase the number of NCL matches to 15/15 from 10/10.
4. Pay players enough to make gambling and debauchery-based club cricket redundant.
5. Create players good enough to be invited abroad to play in Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and England.

I'm intrigued sohel bhai. What do you mean by this? Is club cricket in BD full of leering men making moves on attractive young women?...Seriously I'm genuinely intrigued, I know very little about lcub cricket in BD (is this what's called the dhaka premier league?)...

guys why would you think other clubs would want out players? Our Best player ashraful averages less than the Indian Bowler Irfan pathan, he averages 30 in tests and 24 in odis, and has played roughly the same amount of mathces as asrhraful..its sad really http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ausv...yer/32685.html
