Will Practice match hamper net practice?

wow sakib captain when pilot and tusher in the same team? that should send all kinds of message to the players...

Wish i could watch the matches...

BTW why r they playing in mirpure? I mean they should practice in a dead pitch like chittagong or some where to get the upper hand on SA. I thought Mirpure got fast pitches...

wow !!! I liked it. We (the fans) talked about these in previous camps.... creating three teams and playing against each other before selecting the final team. At last this is happening.... there will be NO hiding by the under performers... they will be exposed... cream of the crop will come up at the top ... and if they are not selected, selectors' shortcomming will be exposed. It will more diffucult to select the under perfomrers bypassing the performers. I like it ... I like it.

One side note,
why team 'A', 'B' and 'C' ? Why not Red, Blue and Green or "Hira' , 'Panna' and 'Chunni' or something interesting like that?

Good stuff. But I am surprise to see that Tapash did not make it to any of the three teams. I thought he was turning out to be a good all rounder. He has the pace, slow deliveries, he can swing, but just needs more control. I do not like the way BCB is overlooking him. He should be sent to some pace academy to fine-tune his bowling.

Just wondering what Taposh Baisab has done in recent NCL? Haven't heard his name much duringb NCL thread discussion. That tells me, he lost another opportunity to make a good case for himself.

I am glad that 3 wicketkeepers are showing their skills here. also happy to see Rafique among the players. Should be a good outcome. All the teams are well balanced, they have to show performance now. I guess Siddons will be watching these games. I think this is the idea behind this, he will then pick 20 players for his camp.

Looks like Tamim and Rasel have recovered from their injuries which is good news, though I think it is a bit too early for Tamim to play.

Excellent point raised.
May be if they had 2 day matches instead of playing ODIs twice...

Yeah...kinda what the Australia used to do and India do it too. Sreesanth became a star sledging Tendulkar and bowling fast and with swing. A team's bowling is kinda suspect comprising of mostly unknown to common Bd fans, great batting line up with two of the best current BD batsman playing for them. B's bowling has good fast and spin bowlers, batting unproven at international stage. C's got good dashers but fast bowlers are essentially medium pacers. Should be a good contest. B is perhaps the weakest on paper. I will back A to win with their strong batting line up. B's got good performers from NCL but those guys for most part didn't face Mortaza, Shadat, Rasel, etc but the fortunately from them Mortaza and Shadat are on their side. C is pretty well balanced. Zubair is strong domestic record, Rasel's been one of the better Bd bowlers plus with spin option of Raffique and Enamul jr bowling looks balanced. If their dashers come through they will have great chance of winning as well.

Surprising that they selected Sakib as captain,, not that it matters. But I guess, they wanted the other senior players to perform as individual contributors and not take the pressure. I think the team combination are balanced for A and B but C looks pretty interesting with lots of fireworks. My intuition is C will be the best team to collect most of the selected players. I think this is the first time, Siddons will get a chance to select his "Actual" Golden boys,,,,( okay, no more gold stuff!!)

This is a good idea done badly. Instead of 6 OD matches, there should have been three 5 day matches and 3 one day matches.

Mahmood bhai,
hatey shomoi asey 6-8 din. Then the real camp (by Siddon) starts. 18-20 day program is not feasible.

This is a good move by BCB, or shall I say Siddons. Now siddons should be encouraged to pick out the performers, and dump the no performers. Each team will be playing 4 matches each, this should give a player ample amount of time to force a selection. I hope that performers from these practice matches are selected.

What's the source of this info?

Unfortunately, I can't believe mukhe-bola info. Any real source? Or is it your insider news?

Ah..finally. Some practise matches.
Good initiative by the Board.
We dont have enough time to play 3-4 dayers, and hence, the one-dayers, i guess.

Nonentheless, good opportunity for the players to get back in rhythm, whatever that is.

Very good point Fazal.

Since the national team has got the rights for Tigers, keeping along the same lines (animals), i propose,

Bangla Goru.
Bangla Chagol.
Bangla Gadha.

Since our performances are often dismal and are utter stupid-like, we need to "pita-fying" these goru-chagol-gadha's into a real tiger.

Great move.

I would prefer one three day match and three one days instead though. Gives you both version. The idea behind a stronger batting lineup of A and stronger bowling lineup of B is to have the best of national team face the best of national team. That's my guess. Best batsmen like Ashraful, Zunaed or Aftab get to play the main bowlers like Mashrafee and Razzak.

ahh, yes didn't think of that obvious reason. i was wondering why they didn't split up mash/rajib, and enam/rafique.

dhiman should have been in one of the 3 sides. i guess tapash is hurt, or finished. he had pace and a deceptive slower delivery, but other than that i don't think he was of even the same class as sajid. i hope i'm proved wrong. tapash is still reasonably young, but its hard to make a comeback in subcontinent cricket once you're past 24.

good idea. i agree we should have had one 3 day match.

Good idea. I too am wondering why there isn't a single longer version of the game?

If all the games are of limited overs version, then why is the need for Bashar, who doesn't figure in the limited overs set-up? In any case, I am sure, he would have preferred a spot in Team B, just to avoid facing the main bowlers.

Nafis Iqbal is no where to be seen. Interesting. Unless he is injured, I don't see why he doesn't get a place in one of the three teams. Is Golla better than him?

Roqibul Hassan is surely in their thought.

Last question is for Miraz :

The three teams in this thread mentioned by you seem to be in order that the respective players bat at. Such as : Zunad-Tamim at 1 and 2, their batting order, Bashar at 3, Ash at 4 etc..Now, was it that way when you got the news and published as it was? Or, was it you who put the players in the desired order? Not nitpicking here. Just a bit curious. Didn't escape my eye that while Bashar gets a no.3, for a one day team, Alok gets no. 12, usually a spot for a reserve in any team!. Bit clarification please?
