So Tamim doesn't get to warm up eh? Straight to the action? Wouldn't it be nice if we sat Zunaed out too? Just so that the Saffers can't figure him out ahead of the real games?
I hope Rasel gets to play in the three-dayer.

no major surprise in the 17. these 17 are the ones who will be in the test and odi squad.
nice to see rafique back.
also nice to see talha, rubel and nazimuddin getting the nod in the reserves. looks they are gettng close to be included in the squad.
only problem is i would have liked to see RUBEL in the practice match. RIQIBUL gets a chance thats nice. also it consists some of the fringe players which is fine.
and rasel is recovering from injury which is a good news.

Bashar in the odi squad. Yeiiiii......... is he retiring soon like Rafique? If not, what is he doing here? Even if he is retiring, what is he doing here?
No Kapali, No Rajin, No Tushar. Siddons figured it out pretty quickly. Agree with ATMR. Tamim should play the warm match if fit.

All the reserve players should have been included in the tour match. I wanted to see Nazim Uddin in the main list, but the selectors thought otherwise. We need aggressive batsman against South Africa who are not afraid of pace. The way Nazimuddin smashed Shoaib Akther and Asif , I thought he would have made a good impression South Africa. I know he is a genuine LBW candidate, who has problems with full ball that comes back in.

why is SN named as an opener in the warmup games? don't we have two openers already? i thought he was going to play in the middle order. then why is playing up there and wasting an opportunity to get used to in the middle?

Maybe because Tamim won't be fit enough to play in the warm up. In that case, SN will have to open, and if Tamim is not able to come back before the first test, SN will have some match practice to go into the test as an opener. I think that is the reason.

Its an "ordinary" selection. Anyone standing in a line at Farmgate bus station couldve come up with this selection. I dont get how Talha, Dollar, is in the reserve. The chances of them playing is close to none. I am a bit dissapointed how either Dhiman or Mashud didnt make the final 17 despite all the failures of Mushfique where not a single premier league club wanted him ( he is playing for BKSP at the end)

No big surprise.
Good to see Rafiq in the list.
He deserves a proper farewell.

The seventeen mentioned in the squad will form both the one day and test team. I see no problem with this squad. Finally, we have no JO in any team ( squad, reserve, warm up) and TI is another notable omission. I never thought of him as a solution to the no.3 of future for tests. Nazimuddin does have a better chance now since he is the only genuine batsman in the reserve who should also feature in the warm up. It may come down between Nazimuddin and Bashar soon.

No big surprise in the team
So there will be no big surprise in the team result.
More or less same team like NZ tour
I expect more or less same result like the last one.

Jamie Siddons first choice openers are Tamim and Junaid. So Shahriar Nafees may only play as a middle order batsman if picked. He is certainly not the SN we are used to !

SN has a much better chance at home condition, and he should play in the middle as Beamer suggested.

Middle order it is. He played at no.5 in NZ. Considering the competition, I don't see anyone challenging him at least for this series. I doubt Siddons will prefer Rajin over him. His other competition would have been Mehrab, but he hasn't been picked. I think Nazimuddin is there as an alternative to Bashar, not SN, and by the looks and sounds of it, Aftab will feature in no.6 for Siddons.

It is disappointing to see Khaled Mashud in the reserve. Honestly I think as a long seving ex captain and after a wonderful performance in the last NCL, he deserved to be in the final squad. This is really sad, he did not deserve this.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
If you make too many changes, we will moan, if you don't make too many, we will bitch. Lose-lose proposition ! No problems with the reserve bowlers either. They get to practice with the senior team, stay close to the national set-up as a reward for good performance in domestics, and pick up a thing or two from the national coaching staff. What is the big problem with that? I like the reserve squad. They are there for the future. No hopers like TI, Golla etc are no where to be found. Rightly so.
