Default Australia unlikely to tour Pakistan: potential opening for us?

the aussies do not feel safe touring pakistan due to the security situation. normally, its usually a case of over-reacting from england/aus/nz whilst touring pak/zim/sl due to political violence. however, in recent months, pakistan's situation really has gone to hell so there is no question that it would be unsafe even for our team to go there.

so the question is: should bangladesh invite pakistan for a full tour (2,3 tests and ODIs). this makes up for the 2 tests we lose against aussies this year and also for the cancelled tri-series.

i think the BCB should at least float the idea to the PCB and see what they say.

I think tri-series idea is a good one.
Though, in CI, I read that the CB series is the last tri-series to be played! Don't know in detail why so...

that will be a great idea . or what bcb can do ask pakistan and aussies to play in our ground. that will be a neutral ground for both teams. and arrange a triseries between auusie, pakis and bangs in our home. india will not attend the tri series which is schedule in may, this is for sure. aussies can be a good replacement for india.
aussies have cancelled the two test against bangladesh, we can ask them to do the this alternative to make up the canclled test match........

Lots of money is involved here and I dun see how pak will agree to tour us instead. At best, they can invite us instead of aus but I doubt it.

There is a rumour that the real reason the Australian players don't want to make the tour is that they will the miss early part of the IPL (they will miss the latter part anyway because of the tour of West Indies). If there is any truth in it, Australia won't want to play any other matches during the time. Most of the Pakistani players have also signed up with IPL, so may want to take the same path.

I dont think some of our "big players" wont want to play either.
Ash, Mash is signed up for the IPL and to be honest, without them, i wont even play Bermuda.

Without them? If Bangladesh has international commitment anytime, they must play for Bangladesh and leave IPL. It is in their contract and IPL also respect that.

Its because IPL has a direct relation with Indian cricket board and without Indian superstars, it will be dull.

If a cricket board opts out of a tournament or tour because of IPL or some other issues, then it is a different issue. But if a tour goes on, the contracted player must play.

We have enough cricket this year, no need to add more burden to the young shoulders.

BCB and team management should concentrate on the matches already scheduled for 2008 and try to get the best possible results.

and the Pak tour is getting less and less likely.

Players to boycott Pakistan

Malcolm Conn | February 14, 2008

CRICKET AUSTRALIA would face a player revolt if it agreed to tour Pakistan next month.
While the tour remains extremely doubtful because of increasing security concerns, most of Australia's senior players have made it privately clear they would pull out of any visit to the strife-torn country should it proceed.

The Australian Cricketers Association and Cricket Australia both reacted cautiously to the player boycott claim yesterday.

CA and the ACA are preparing to be part of a security assessment which is due to visit Pakistan after postponed parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for Monday.

However, even the security inspection is in doubt because of the rising level of violence.

To be honest, i'd think twice before sending Bangladesh team as well.
The situation in pakistan is really not that bright.

hopefully we can get 3 tests against SL when they come touring in december-jan.

The situation in Pakistan may not be right for any touring team at the moment. If Aussies aren't touring Pak, then we should rather invite them to BD if anything at all.

I do think that we're getting enough matches this year. However, we could have an opportunity to play a couple of Test matches...that will be great.

I don't think neither pakistan nor australia will come to bd right now, mostly because of IPL.

Looks like Pakistan is trying to have a ODI series with India if Aus series get cancelled. India's schedule is really packed though and I don't think it will be possible. Bangladesh should definitely step in now.

Pakistan mull ODIs with India if Australia pull out

if india is free and pakistan is now free...why not have the tri series as was already scheduled and agreed upon?

lets see if the selfish BCCI and PCB can "do the right thing" for once.
