A funny conversation between two characters regarding Aus getting out for 47. One of the characters is 'Ash', seems like its our 'Ash' specially when he mentioned about Strike rate of Watto...
Quote:
Australia 47 all out
Things could have gotten a lot worse at Newlands if it hadn't been for some good old Australian honesty. Our commentators explain
Alex Bowden
November 21, 2011
Stuart: Well, astonishing scenes here at Newlands, where Australia have been bowled out for just 47. What do you make of that, Ash? Can you say anything in the Aussies' favour after that performance?
Ash: They were true to themselves, Stu. They were true to their natural games.
Stuart: And that's good, is it?
Ash: Oh yeah, you should always play your natural game. That's what got these guys into the team in the first place, after all.
Stuart: It strikes me that if you've been bowled out for 47 playing your natural game then you probably couldn't do much worse if you adapted that game slightly, reacting to the conditions a little bit.
Ash: No, you're dead wrong there, Stu. That's the thing about cricket. There are no extremes. Things could always have gone worse.
Stuart: Or better.
Ash: If the Aussie batsmen hadn't played their natural game, the situation could have been a lot worse.
Stuart: Worse than 47 all out?
Ash: Oh yeah, at least they got after the bowlers a bit. They were only out there for 18 overs. Imagine if they'd reined themselves in and only scored at one or two an over. They'd have been dismissed for 20-odd.
Stuart: But they might not have been dismissed so easily had they done that.
Ash: Nope. Rubbish. Sometimes there's a ball with your name on it and there's literally nothing you can do about it. Far better to cash in before then, get a few boundaries, get the scoreboard moving.
Stuart: Well, Peter Siddle was the only batsman to hit multiple boundaries. He hit two. Seven of the batsmen didn't even make it to four runs in their entire innings, let alone in one shot.
Ash: But they were true to themselves, Stu. True to their approach.
Stuart: I really don't know what you're trying to say. Did you actually see Brad Haddin's dismissal?
Ash: A perfect example of a batsman being true to himself.
Stuart: What? Ambling down the pitch and wafting at a short ball brainlessly?
Ash: That's his natural game, Stu. He naturally wafts at short balls without using his brain. Why should he be criticised for his brainlessness?
Stuart: Because it got him out.
Ash: Brad Haddin's brainlessness has been the making of him. Operating without a brain is how Brad Haddin got into this Australia team. If operating brainlessly also gets him out of this Australia team, then at least he can look back on his career and say that he played his natural game and was true to himself.
Stuart: Any other positives for the Australians, Ash?
Ash: Shane Watson's strike rate.
Stuart: Four off three balls?
Ash: A strike rate of 133.33.
Stuart: Over the course of three balls.
Ash: It was as high as 200 at one point in his innings, Stu. He got his team off to a flier.
Stuart: He got South Africa off to a flier.
Ash: He got everyone off to a flier. Great cricketer. Great approach.
Stuart: True to his natural game?
Ash: True to his natural game.

If only we could let Ash be true to himself with his game.

Ash's game is nothing that a lobotomy could cure. Now apparently he's trying to reinvent himself as the second coming of Mark Richardson.

Haha Ash is very shrewd. He realises that there is a high probability Imrul may get the chop from the Test team so he has put his name in the hat for the second opening slot.

What I meant - Emon, MC bhai, lamisa, ATMR bhai and Razab bhai - is that he's been under a ridiculous amount of pressure since his hundred at Colombo. He has got ALL the tools to be a top-class cricketer, the only thing out of place is his mind. First, he became a history-maker on his arrival to Intl. cricket, before he saw the tough side of it, and when the 19-year-old did start finding out that this was a rough circuit, the whole nation was looking up at him to deliver magical knocks in practically every game. He did deliver a few of them, the 100, the 94, the 158, the 87* - but it was certainly not enough. He became circumspect of his batting. Every time he was placed in the playing XI, he felt obliged to do something extraordinary, not realizing that something "ordinary" by his standards (a 40-odd of 50-odd deliveries in an ODI, for instance) would suffice.
And no one ever brings up how he was toyed with by the team management. Instead of backing him up (for real, not just by keeping him in the playing XI even when he was not performing) by putting him at a position of his comfort (because he IS that valuable an asset to BD cricket) - they made him open, they made him bat at no.7 - you cannot do that to a guy who debuted at international cricket in his late teens, and really hasn't played that much top level cricket. More importantly, Ashraful has been made scapegoat for more Bangladesh defeats than all others players combined ( I wish I had the time, I would really have loved to dig up the facts and prove this point). A lot of VERY MEDIOCRE players have played for the Bangladesh team for extended periods, just because they had the luxury of slipping under the radar, something Ash will never get to feel. He's always been a prime target of opposition bowlers, he's always the target of disgruntled fans, he's always the target of journalists for a juicy side-story.
All that, and he hasn't yet hit the age that a batsman is supposed to reach his prime.
I'm not saying put him back in the team, and let him waste a spot in the squad for matches after matches, what I'm saying is...
Put ANY OTHER DAMN PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF BANGLADESH in his shoes, with an entrance reviewed like like THIS in World Cricket, and be honest to god when you tell me who you think would have done a vastly different job than him?

No one wrote about it on any newspaper today. If Siddons was around, I bet media would have blamed it on Siddons.
So who is making Ashraful open for Dhaka Metro? Who is toying with that child?
