Excuses like "none of the other batsmen scored so its not his fault" are lame, hes the most experienced player who played in the most important position, its his job to score runs. If he doesnt then its fine but he should'nt have this legendary status in that case either. EVERY single one of the ODI batsmen in the current team have a better average than him.
He has a legendary status?

NO!
Please correct me if I am wrong: but some of the players earn county contracts(with an actual Division one or two team)

Great! Happy for him. But please do stick to domestics and stay away from Test/Odi squads.

LOL, bunch of funny guys. They may be losers on the cricket field (OK, maybe not Nasir/Mash), but they are quite the jokers on stage.

By the way, Blackheath also has ex-Essex county player, Jahid Ahmed, who you should know is of bangladeshi decent.

Wow, you guys dig deep!

First things first, Jahid is one of my proteges and someone I spent 2-3 years with developing. I feel he got a bad deal from Essex and I have always thought he would turn out to be a very fine out swing bowler. They released him from a contract when he was still quite young.

I havent seen Jahid for a year but I asked him about coming out to BD to try out for the WC squad. Jamie Siddons wanted to have a look and there was even an offer from a board member to pay his airfare and have him play in the DPL. Jahid had a great local job coaching and felt he didn't want to jeopardise that by risking it on playing again.

Jahid's parents are from BD and he was born in Essex, but speaks fluent Bengali.

He has a really nice looking bowling action and has been clocked at 85 mph on the TV speed gun (137 kph). I haven't seen him bowl for a while now and have no idea if he still has the determination to perform at this level. From where he WAS, he would make a great addition to the BD squad, which is why I recommended him.

Kent coach Jimmy Adams to look at Mohammad Ashraful for t20
Wednesday, May 23, 2012FstoneheraldFollow
KENT coach Jimmy Adams revealed he will look into the possibility of signing former Bangladesh skipper Mohammad Ashraful for the t20 campaign, after receiving a tip-off from a thisiskent sport journalist.

Ashraful, 27, has come over from Bangladesh to coach cricket and play in the Kent Premier League for Blackheath.

Kent coach Jimmy Adams to look at Mohammad Ashraful for t20
He made 100 against Bromley on Saturday and took 3-1 with the ball prompting Jack Wilson, of Kent Regional News, to enquire about the possibility of signing Ashraful as the second overseas player.

Adams, who has spent hours on the road as the county schedule gets into full swing, was unaware that Ashraful was around but he pledged to "immediately look into it" to see if something could be done.

Adams said: "I didn't know he was about but if he's here I won't rule out anything. It's a lead. If he signs you can invoice the club!

Ambitious

"We have to be mindful of the players we already have as we're trying to create an environment where the players get as much of an opportunity as they can.

"But it's definitely something I'll look at.

"We still have some time left before the start of the t20 in June although finding a player hasn't been looking too good for us up to now.

"Azhar (Mahmood) is back in the next few days and we have enough to work with if we can't get someone in."

Ashraful is team-mates with Daniel Bell-Drummond at Blackheath while he played with Azhar Mahmood and Darren Stevens for the Dhaka Gladiators in the Bangladesh Premier League earlier this year. Their side won the tournament.

Blackheath captain  Chris Willetts said the door was open for Ashraful to sign but that the move may be hit by visa regulations.

He said: "We'd never stand in the way of any player going on to play better cricket.

"It's his choice if he wants to do that but there may be a problem with the visa that he's on if Kent want to sign him."

For the full story see your Kent Regional News & Media newspaper on Thursday.

I hope and pray he does great there. Not sure success there would necessarily translate into success wearing the Green and Red, a place reserved for his pathological and compulsive brain farts.

Wow that would be awesome if Ash gets signed by Kent. It would be a great experience for him and also we could see how well he does there.

The more Bangladeshis that feature in county teams the better for our cricket. I really do hope he gets in.

Btw, he doesn't coach Blackheath does he?
