Shabbash Ash. It's been a while. Good to see him touching that magic figure. Welcome Nostalgia

Came to BC only to hear people's reactions. And, as expected.
Well played Ashraful! But seriously, it was far beyond my expectations.

really?
Anyway I don't know what to expect from him as this has become a very common scenario, [scores runs in domestic - back to national team - failed & dropped ]
But selectors will have in mind that for the upcoming Test series vs Sri, Ash has scored 4 out of his 5 test hundreds against them.
PS: read somewhere that Ash hasn't played a single ODI/Test in 2012.

Congrats Ash. Don't know why he moves around so much. Number 5 is undoubtedly his best position in FC/Test matches.

It will be extremely difficult for him to find a spot at any of #5, #6 and #7. #4 can be Naeem's for a while if he wants it, considering how we play most of our Tests at home.
Depending on where they play Anamul (I'm guessing he'll get a stretch in the top order), Ashraful's only real hope of ever making a comeback is at #2/#3, more due to the lack of options than anything else.
But come on guys, it's just one century. Why do we have to start talking about a comeback or reassure ourselves that he doesn't deserve one? There are other players who have made 100s this season too.

yeah there are a number of players who have scored more than one ton this season plus more 50s so really there is no reason to select ash as we have a bunch of players who have performed much more consistently than him this season. also as said the only spots available are #2 and #3, anamul should have one of those spots no question.

I hope this failure gets another chance in the team so all his worshipers will realize how much he sucks at international level. But make no mistake, even after he fails in his international return, they will again be calling for his comeback after scoring on fluke domestic century. Never have I seen so much obsession with a mediocre player who averages 20 in all format but is supposedly more talented than bradman and sobers combined.

i don't want ash to get another chance, and i'm not going to deny that even if he was scoring more runs i'd still be hesitant a) because there are other batsmen already in line ahead of him who should get there chance first and b) because there is a pattern that when ash is around and or in the team they don't quite do as well. the team has got more wins, pushed the better teams more often, during the period where ash has been around the team/squad the least i.e. the last couple of years. i don't know if it's his influence on other players or what but for some reason he has a negative affect on the team. maybe when he's in the team players think they can leave it to him because they beleive the hype, maybe he jsut has a bad attitude that rubs off on everyone else, i don't know, all i know is the team has been doing a lot better more often without him. don't want to go back to the days where we were winning against the better teams once every couple of years. besides as i said there are a number of batsmen ahead of him in the line.

If Ashraful gets selected into the team based on one century after a billion innings then Marshall Ayub should be selected for Asia XI considering his efforts this season.

Rest assured that he wont unless its Test and that too if there are multiple injuries. The selectors already have made it clear that they are not going to bring him back over Jahirul Islam, Zunaid, Mominul Haque etc. Even those players are not guaranteed.. With the scarcity of Test matches we play, I doubt that there will be significant changes in the batting lineup between the existing ODI one and Test.
Ashraful has become another Tusher Imran, Faisal Hossain, Rajin Saleh, Alok Kapali like players-- who are essential for domestic cricket but will not feature in International circuit unless theres a catostrophy!!!

After reading these line my heart sank a little, u have to feel for the guy...

Ashraful is a SELFISH cricketer.

Q: You have experienced bad times before, but this had to be tormenting...
Ash: Yes, I felt really bad. I didn't want to play this match. I was feeling guilty of robbing someone else of a spot. So I decided not to play at all, and would only play during BPL with aggressive batting. But Sanwar bhai (manager) and Babul bhai (coach) asked me to play at least this match. Riyad said, "Dost (buddy), I can't play the match due to hamstring injury. At least if you play then everyone will get some courage."
