With two world class players and some good supporting roles, what we need is a consistent Ashraful who bats the way he always should have been. Thats the X factor missing from the team.
For us to win series against teams like WI and Pak, just Sakib and Tamim won't do it.
And there aren't many natural match winners in our team.
Nafees, Zunaid or Rahims are not going to win you matches. They will always be the support act.
Its guys like Ash, Mash, Sakib or Tamim, that can single handedly win us games.

Bhai, it's a fashion these days to talk against Ash and fashion doesn't follow logic. If every player of our National / A team can hit 1 century each in every series, we will be number one team in all forms of the game.

Ash can turn the table by miraculous performances, that he has displayed number of times. He must be a permanent member of the team and allowed to perform without any pressure. His presence only increases our chances of winning, since we have 2/3 world class players now and the rest aren't all that bad. But for winning you need something extra. And Ash adds that extra thing .......... x factor.

You said it pretty loud and clear in your posts.

And it is/was never a fashion to make him a punch bag. We all love him. We love every players that play for bd. We expect a lot from ash. That's the reason we want to see him being consistent. Not just an eid innings here and there.....

Watching some people bash Ashraful and others defend him on the basis of his occasional flashes of brilliance or 'X Factor' has taught me a lot about the politics of our country. On the one hand, many people are willing to bear and cheer continuous mediocrity because he did something exceptional at some point in the past and shows glimpses of this capacity now. On the other hand, many people will deride him regardless of his achievements past or present because some other player is the subject of their adulation. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

In any case, I think Ashraful is a better batsman than Stuart Broad (at least). Yet, he has a lower Test average than Stuart and a lesser 'Highest Score' in a Test innings. If he is given the chance, I hope he can rectify that.
