Exclamation Facts after Day 1, Test 2 V. SA !

1. The pitch: The Chittagong pitch was prepared by a glorified government mali with the title of a curator. Obviously a fellow without much interest in soil science as it relates to cricket.

I am no expert in the matter, but from what I've seen in other spin-friendly pitches of South Asia, especially those in Sri Lanka, a 'spin-friendly' pitch by definition starts to deteriorate until the subsequent cracks and roughs starts to assist the bowlers use those conditions to generate wicked turns and awkward bounces. A pitch like that usually has a bit of dry and rolled grass on top, and tends to be a bit soft underneath offering some, not a lot, of bounce and movement from day 1. In other words, a somewhat sporting wicket which will start to favor the bowlers from the halfway point of last session in day two if pounded hard enough by somewhat frustrated seamers.

The Chittagong pitch is the type of flat and hard wicket which offers nothing to the bowlers while giving plenty to batsmen. It is indeed bauldami in its purest form to build such a pitch when the opposition has significantly better batsmen, as they usually do, than a traditionally batting-challenged side. ALL of the imbeciles responsible for coming up with this pitch should be dishonorably discharged of their so called duties. Morons !

2. Putuputu bowling: The meaning of good test bowling is simple enough. It means to bowl aggressively and accurately to the field set for you, and try getting 20 wickets in the process. That must be the intent delivery after delivery, spell after spell and session after session. Any attempt to just 'contain' the opposition without the intent to "make things happen" from at least one end is GUARANTEED to backfire, especially on a dead wicket. Yet that's EXACTLY what every Bangladeshi bowler did today with predictable results. With the extremely short-lived odd delivery here and there mainly from Rafiq, all of our bowlers were in the ODI mode. MaMu was being MaMu and Rajib after his test one heroics was being a good bhaigna. Both Razzak and Moyna did justice to their appalling test bowling stats and re-established why having youth on one's side can be the ONLY good thing under the circumstances.

3. HaBa-esque captaincy: Totally uncharacteristic brain-dead keptenchhi throughout the day from Mohammad Ashraful Matin was just as bit baffling as the all-too-familiar decision to throw his wicket away when batting. How can a naturally aggressive cricketer like him just "wait for things to happen" and lead a bunch of players whose body language were no less passive and morbid than their captain's? He should have his head examined, seriously!

Why, only to find out there is nothing in there? Well we already know that, no need to confirm.

I am no expert in this matter either, but I believe preconditions for making such pitches is that don't add water to the pitch before match day, and don't roll it heavily - those are the two exact mistakes, I believe, our curators make.

You cant squarely blame the curator for the pitch if the team management wanted such a belter of a track . That includes captain and coach. Shows the team lack complete confidance to bat on any track other than that. But believe me this dead pitch will look so deadly and lively when we will start our innings. Anyway let the blame game continues. At least we have found another scapegoat for the moment

NO home field advantage ever! all these years, and we still dont know what kind of pitch will suit either our batsmen or the bowlers. Guess it is useless anyways, no mater what kind of pitches, batsmen will still fail

I thought Saffies cant play in dead track or spin? In this flat track it will be really funny if they struggle for even 200. In a country with about 150million we are sending these gadhar bhaca to represent the national team. They freaking never learn.

Sorry, I was too PO-ed when I opened this thread. All of the logic-circuits inside my head shorted during the course of day 1 and I ended up with a headache which lasted too long. Advil better come up with a newer and more improved version to deal with the mind-numbing genesis of such headaches induced by our overall cricketing incompetence.

Brother, I'm confused about cricket knowledge.

What are you complaining about?

The way you are complaining like we have batted and failed to score big. Which we haven't yet. If you have complained after we batted then I would have understand that you are good critique.

He has taken 5 bowlers but see SA still making history. It's our bowlers and curator's fault. They both failed in their area.

To be honnest I don't think we'd be having this discussion if we had won the toss, and this pitch was there to help us if we had won the toss.

SA were able to take advantage and didn't play too many lose shots therefore they're unbeaten. Don't you think that even if we had batter first, we'd atleast be 6 or 7 down just because our batsmen would throw their wickets away?

I do aggree that this pitch horrible for test cricket and really unfair to the team bowling first, but I'm sure we wouldn't be complaining if we were batting first.

I want to wait until I see our opening pair. Come on.... I have the rights to dream. Tamim will whack a few 4's and a couple of 6's just to keep his stats OK. And then Ash will be out in his 40's and the rest of the team will collapse.

A respectable innings defeat. wilh a century and a couple 50's.. that should be the goal

Hello Everyone,
Haven't posted anything in a while but thought this would be a good time to shed some light on some things. First of all, as we all saw from the first day's play, it is a very flat track made for batting. It was unlucky that we lost the toss but no one has any control over that. Having said that, even in flat tracks good teams/bowlers will find ways to make inroads into a teams batting line up which we have failed to do. I am not going to blame anyone for picking 4 speacialist bowler instead of an extra batsmen. Usually, even the big teams, go into test match with more bowlers if they see that the pitch is flat, just to add a bit more variation.
I don't think having an extra batsmen would've made much of a difference if our 6 batsmen + WK failed to deliver. We have to put the responsibility on the shoulders of those 6 batsmen and make them realize their own role in the team. I think our batsmen have the mentality that it's ok if they themselves don't score because someone else will. For the current match, I still have the hope that our batsmen will also perform well like in the practice match. As I recall, the practice match also had a similar pitch and bd batted second on that pitch. All in all our team lacks experience and matuarity and the only way to survive in test cricket is through those. We just have to keep faith and keep supporting the team and soon enough they will deliver. I apologize for rambling on but just needed to vent a bit.

that govt mali should be fired immidiately, I knew bd politics has got something to do with this. Why couldn't we employ an 'independent mali' rather than a govt mali? No wonder why we are consistently losing matches after matches with disasterous performance... because of these stupid govt malis.
