drop nazimuddin from the squad and raqibul from the playing 11. as much as i'd like to see raqibul in the team he really needs to bat around 4 to be effective to his maximum, if he's going to bat 6 or lower i think players like shakib, riyad, dhiman, reza etc will all do the job just as well or better than raqibul and they've got the added bonus of being allrounders so they have and extra something raqibul doesn't add.

although if they think the batting is likely to crumble like against RSA then having raqibul in the team to steady the ship whilst rotating strike wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Clarification on Bashar - He is scoring heavily in the premier league, in good form and we need experience in a difficult tour. I am dropping Nazimuddin in favor of Bashar.

Well, premier league has ODI format and Bashar is scoring good runs with acceptable S/R.

if he finds the form back, what's the problem?

We must take a 15 member squad to Pakistan, 14 will be too few. It is a 5-match series and the matches are tightly scheduled and the heat in the Pakistan should be considered.

My 15-member squad:

3 Openers:
SHAHRIAR NAFEES AHMED
JUNAID SIDDIQUE
TAMIM IQBAL KHAN

5 Middle Order Batsmen/Batting All-Rounders:
MOHAMMAD ASHRAFUL(C)
AFTAB AHMED
SHAKIB AL-HASAN
DHIMAN GHOSH(WK)
NAZIMUDDIN

7 Bowlers/Bowling All-Rounders:
MASHRAFE-BIN-MORTAZA(VC)
ABDUR RAJJAK
SYED RASEL
SHAHADAT HOSSAIN
MAHMUDULLAH
FARHAD REZA
MOSHAROF HOSSAIN

I have decided to drop Kapali and Mushfiq from my squads as I dont think there is a realistic chance of them being picked again for a long time, although I think they are ready for the national team if handled properly. I think Mosharof deserves a proper chance in the team so I would like to see him recalled. And I was disappointed with Nirala in the Ireland series so I think he should be dropped and Nazim should be given one more chance as Pakistan are a aggressive team and we will need to be aggressive if we are to beat them.

I think this XI should be tried in the 1st match:
SHAHRIAR
JUNAID/TAMIM
ASHRAFUL(C)
SHAKIB
AFTAB
MAHMUD
DHIMAN(WK)
RAJJAK
MASHRAFE
SHAHADAT
RASEL

Hablu's record against PAK is good though. In the last test series against PAK, he scored 76, 109, 97, 25, 76, 3 (If I remember correctly). Those were in his golden days

I like Miraz bhai's team, with a Bashar twist.
If he scores runs consistently at Premier League, by all means, bring back the experience.

But the question remains, is he gonna get a break into main Xi?

True that Bashar is scoring good runs in the Premier League. Also true that he has a good record against Pakistan. But in the last couple of years WHILE playing in the national team's XI, he was looking as if he's forgotten how to bat. He just simply wasnt showing the touch in any way. Bringing him back in maybe a good idea on the basis of current form, but it definitely does not help our team's growth (by sacrificing the spot of a youngster) and our future development plans. Bashar is simply a gone-case. Stick with the current squad, and include Rasel in place of Mosharraf.

Here's my playing XI and the reserves:

Tamim, Nafees
Aftab, Ashraful, Sakib, Rakibul
Riyad, Dhiman
Mashrafee, Razzak, Rasel

Farhad, Junaed, Nazimuddin, Shahadat

Bashar is now like Ganguli and Dravid in BD ODI. We need young blood in the team. Some of the players like Bashar & Tushar are tigers in domestic arena but not in international level. Bashar was also in runs in domestic longer versions before SA tour and we have seen his DEBACLE against SA.

Does Saharier Nafees have any 50 against any test playing country except Australia, and Zimbabwe?

Recalling Bashar in ODIs is simply lunacy. And it's not like he scored 3-4 centuries in Premiere League (Did he ever do that, even when he was at his best?)

Anyway, I'd drop Nazim to make room for Rasel.

raqib should come at number 5, and then sakib
and then drop any one of allrounders, farhad or riyad depending on the pitch and condition to get an extra pacer, either rasel or shahadat
otherwise same team
