Default What are your expectations for the Pakistan series?

Hello folks. Bagladesh has just come off a 3-0 whitewash of Ireland on home soil and they'll be hungry for more success against the Pakistani's in Pakistan during our upcoming tour in April.

I know it's a little early, but my question to you is, what are your expectations for Bangladesh in this tour? I'm asking both results wise and in general.

Although I hope for more, my true expectation is one win in the ODI's and few other close contests. I don't know if I expect a win in the 20/20 game, but I expect another close affair there as well.

Batting wise, I would like to see at least one century from either Tamim, Nafees, Ash or Aftab. I would also like to see 5+ half centuries in total from the batsmen. We must bat out all 50 overs of the innings IMO, in order to have any chance against Pakistan (like mentioned on another thread), and I truly expect that from our players as well.

Bowling wise, I think Mash has the pressure to take early wickets as Pakistan has a deep batting line up. I expect Mash to get back to his bowling form in this series and Razzak will be the spin king. The other bowlers must do a good job restricting the Pakistani's, then the wickets will come automatically if they field well.

Overall, I expect Bangladesh to put up a good fight and show the rest of the world that we're a very capable one day side and that they better watch out for us in the next World Cup !

I will be happy with a win. Anything more than that is a bonus especially against full strength Pakistani team, which I am looking forward to.

I say 3-2 Pakistan, I think we win the 2nd ODI and the Last Match, Along with the 20/20. Do we get a Trophy for winning the 20/20 one-off?

There are three possibilities in the outcome of results from upcoming One day series with Pakistan

Most likely 4 -1 in Pakistan’s' favour.

If the team can put up real fight and excel in all departments consistently ie batting, bowling and fielding it might be 3 -2 in Pakistan's favour.

If there is a washout or tie in one of the five matches and a little bit of luck who knows it could be 2 - 2

The 20-20 is anybody's game.

Our hopes and prayer’s are fully with the Tigers. They need to roar like a Lion !

Realistically, anything better than a 5-0 whitewash will be a bonus.

We play our rare phases of good cricket on pitches that offer something for the bowlers, and unfortunately sporting pitches are in short supply in Pakistan. Furthermore we've never beaten a top side on their own patch I can't see anything changing here.

That said, thumping Ireland may have done something for confidence.

And the other upside of the Ireland series is that for the first time in a long time, our batsmen have had an oppurtunity to execute a game plan which promotes batting sensibly and pacing their innings. Usually against better opposition they get picked off too early in their innings to have a chance. Now that they've got this experience under their belt, they might, I'm very optimistically hoping, be able to take what they've learned into matches against better opposition.

5 - 0, no less. Great players will fall, and careers destroyed. We will crush them as if they were ants roaming the surface beneath our feet. We shall take all that they have, humiliate them in the field and bring them to submission, begging for mercy.

If our batsmen do well almost like they did against Ireland then
we may expect 2 victories from BD.
Which means 3-2 for Pak.

Its about time...
( esp right after a series win, we should feel optimist, regardless of the real prospect)

it's gonna be interesting to see which bangladesh is going to show up. It's really going to depend on how we bat. pakistan pitches are very flat and runs will def be scored. If pakistan bats first we could be in trouble because they can put up 300+. I think we could def win 1 game but unless i see it being convincing i will keep it that way.

Default hahaha

we'll lose 5 str8 matches n the last 2 matchs we'll score over 200 runs

after the series:
AshraFOOL: "If you can see we were improving match by match and the last two we had a chance. Tamim and Nafees gave us good starts but our middle order collapsed once again. It's though playing at night (so blame on LIGHTS for losing the whole series) we lost because we dont have enough experience playing at night games. Our country should have us play night games!!!

Siddons: "As you can see it takes time for a team to get better. Our young/future of bd players need more time and should play against better team. I think what we got out of this series is that our players need to be more consistent. (hahahaha koyla doile moyla jai na).

Mortuza: "I tried to play well but what can I do if I can't get any wickets. But we'll try to lose in the next series."

Siddons wouldn't believe that BD team could win any match against Pakistan, as he clearly didn't think so when played against South Africa. There is no moral support from the coach- it would be quite difficult to win, unless players disregard experts’ opinions, motivate themselves and make them morally stronger- anything is possible.

We always have a good chance against Pakistan. The emotional issues can always act as an extra source of motivation for us ...

This is the reason he didn't make it to the Australian team himself. Lack of self-belief. He has so far shown the same lack of belief for the Bangladeshi team. If you cannot believe that you can do something, why bother doing it in the first place. As there is a saying, failure is the pillar of success. But as weird it might sound, trying is the first step towards failure as well. So stop trying, you wouldn't fail.

He has to believe within himself that he can make Bangladesh world beaters, sadly from the comfort of a forum poster we can only do very little about it.

Remember we all say ..."manage expectations" for you and for all...
Playing against Pak team in Pak pitches is very challenging, our players have to give their 100% for better results. There are no ways to measure what the team will do even looking at recent performances, so expectations should be realistic.
Unless we see few games, there is no way we can have a valid expectations.

Why bother playing at all if we believe we will lose therefore no "valid expectation". We might as well ask BCB to cancel the tour rather than playing 5 one day matches.

This will definitely "manage expectations" once and for all.

bingo...we always play well with the baggage against prior oppressors (pak) and current oppressors (india).

too bad SL never bullied us off the field...

i expect mash to touch 90 mph this series as well. all our players need to go in with the mindset of 1971 all over again - keep it friendly off the field - we're all muslim brothers after all - but this is WAR on the pitch. 100 overs a day, no let ups, we take no prisoners!!!

that will ensure at least 2 wins, 3 if pak does some india-giri and tries to play a squad full of zim series rookies.
