Default BD Cricketers PAK Prep thread

Ashraful and Rajib went to the optional practice session yesterday. Siddons was heard saying after hearing India's 76 all out against SA that BD batsmen didn't do that bad then

Ashraful spent a long time till 1:30 pm batting in front of the bowling machine.

I know Tennis Machines can reach upto speeds of 150 mph so and Baseball Machines can reach up 150 mph as well so I would think the Cricket Machine can do the same. Note I said mph and not kph.

Very good sign. All our players should be doing it allmost regularly. Only official practice isn't enough to mature as batsmen at this level.

1st is that Aftab? He had beard in the Pak bound photo.

I'd like to remind Ash Junaid's comment. Paraphrasing: Practice matters very little if that can't bring in loads of runs when the light is on.

I STARED LIKE THAT: Aftab Ahmed (2nd from L) makes a funny face while his captain Mohammad Ashraful, Nazimuddin, Abdur Razzak and Shahadat Hossain listen to vice-captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (R) talk about the Tigers' official photo session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday. Daily Star.

Jamie's guarded optimism

While his predecessor loved to say during the last year of his tenure that the players should go into a one-day match with win in their mind, Jamie Siddons only hopes that his charges show some improvement.

Prior to the tour to Pakistan, the Australian said in an official press briefing at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday that he would be happy if his boys showed some development in their performance.

Captain Mohammad Ashraful already expressed his high hope by saying that their target is to win one or two matches during the series to overcome their recent poor showing against top-ranked sides but Siddons was little bothered with the result.

"I am not thinking whether we can win any match or not and I even don't want to predict anything rather I am interested to see some improvement in the boys' performance during the series against Pakistan," said Siddons.

And if it was not good enough then the Australian also said that he was looking forward to see more commitment from his players as questions about the commitment of the Ashraful's men have already been raised.

"What I am expecting is the boys will show more commitment and a disciplined performance during the series in Pakistan," the 43-year-old coach added.

Bangladesh team were scheduled to fly for Karachi in the early hours of Sunday to play five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match under floodlights in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Karachi.

"Cricket is a simple game where one small mistake gets you out. The simple thing is you wait for the bad ball and pitch the ball on the right spot. We should stick to the team's rule which means we avoid to chase deliveries outside the off-stump as well as keep away from playing lofted shots," said Siddons.

"And that's the only way of improvement. The boys didn't play to their potential against South Africa but they did well against Ireland by following the team's rule. And now if we want to show better performance against Pakistan then we must be disciplined and follow the team rules," he added.

Jamie however expressed his disappointment over the national players performance in Premier League matches.

"True, they have been playing lot of cricket for the last few months which definitely is not a case for the other teams but it should not be an excuse. They must understand that the clubs are paying them money. It is really disappointing to see the batsmen not scoring enough runs even in the domestic circuit," he said.
