Default Magic Moments Relive (Tamim’s – Classic, Super Six, Stunning Catch, Others) - Part 3

Tamim Iqbal Khan – God’s Blessings to Bangladesh.

Prior to his debut in World Cup One dayer against India Tamim showed his batting class when Shane Bond was treated with disdain in a practice game against Newzealand which Bangladesh incidentally won.

Then came the moment of truth when Tamim Iqbal blasted his way to a magical 51 in 53 mts against India that subsequently knocked them out of the tournament.

The cricketing world was wonderstruck by breathtaking stroke play all round the wicket from a boy only 18 years against the might of Indian bowlers- Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel nobody was spared. One got the feeling Dravid and his pace attack were clueless as to what was happening.

One of key qualities of Tamim is his innate ability to dominate bowlers and unsettle them with his brave – Who cares the Big Names approach.

It goes to Jamie Siddons’ credit that he was able to hone Tammim’s skills with regard to better shot selection , grafting and staying in the wicket for a longer period.

Thus we now see a more mature Tamim . His batting figures speaks for itself.

Tamim has three additional qualities that makes him an asset to Bangladesh :

He is one of the very few Bangladesh batsmen who has been consistent in terms of batting.

Tamim has been rock solid and showed his class against all other cricketing nations that Bangladesh recently played - Sri lanka, Newzealand, South Africa and Pakistan.

Tamim is also an outstanding fielder that adds his value to the team and has taken some blinders.

Another non cricketing attribute is his ability to speak fluently and with confidence with the media which will help Bangladesh if they decide to groom him as a future captain (maybe 5 plus years from now}.

With this edition I would like to share some magic moments of Tamim on his prowess in batting, ability to smash sixes at will, Outstanding fielding ,the famous sledging incident involving Munaf Patel and last but not the least a popular cricket song which I am sure all of you already know.

Tamim’s Knock out Punch of India.

Here’s the link :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGxLqgbNWN8

Tamim’s Famous Sixer against Zaheer Khan.

We all know about Javed Miandad’s famous last ball sixer against Chetan Sharma.
against India long time ago.

But this one from Tamim only 18 years of age at that time against a seasoned campaigner Zaheer Khan will also long be remembered .

Here’s the link :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI_wY123oJ8

Tamim’s Stunning Catch .

Tamim as I mentioned earlier is one of the few brilliant fielders who has brought about many breathtaking catches.

Here is one of them.

I can assure you readers this one is no less than of the class of the incomparable Johnty Rhodes or Mohammad Kaif. What do you think readers ?

Here’s the Link :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g17BB2NG-g

Tamim’s Super Six and Its After Effect – Sledging.

Such was the beating from Tamim’s bat during his great knock against India in the world cup One dayer that one of their key bowlers Munaf Patel could not check his emotions after being hit for a blistering six that he resorted to sledging.

Watch the actions of our young Tiger Tamim against the might of Munaf Patel.

It is a pity that we were not able to hear what was said as we could only watch physical actions between the opposing players or did the media deliberately suppress the audio part.. It is anybody’s guess. Readers have your own interpretations.

Here’s the Link::
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhMwIrEnQ8Y

I hope you all enjoyed this edition of Magic Moments.

Last But not the Least a Cricket Song to Finish Off.

Before ending I would like to finish with a song - a cricketing one, a popular number which I am sure all of you know it already.

Let us all sing together once more as the video unfolds.

Here’s the Link::
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G9GG8eFv6k

Obayed bhai...apner moto mohan hoite parle amio hoyto hats off kortam...but i guess that's not possible for now.

I would like to re-live some moments only when there's a lot of them to choose from. Otherwise...it feels very small and insignificant.

I do not want tamim to be the captain....
now and never!
as a captain there is a lot of responsibilities in your shoulders...n it becomes hard to control everything..
I rather like him as what he is....
he has a bright future ...n does better as a batsman n a feilder....
let sakib or mushfiq be the future captain...

Hello Prantika,

Welcome back!

You may be right. Sometimes the added responsibility of captaincy to a consistent performer may adversely affect his individual performance.

Example: Despite being a champion batsman Tendulkar flopped as a Captain and ultimately removed.

Our existing Captain - You can't have a better example. However I have reservations against Ash. His captaincy and performance took a nose dive under Siddons. If he had a Coach of the likes of Dav- non interfering with regards to a player’s set batting style and a highly motivational Tactician who knows Ash's Career Graph as a Captain and Player might have been different. This is off course and If. We have to stick to present reality which is rock bottom for Ash. I being a strong Ash fan like many others is shell shocked and sad about it. I may dare say now only a miracle can save him.

I have a gut feeling in the future Saqib will be made the captain say 2 to 3 years from now and Mushfiq or Tamim will be groomed for the Vice captain depending on their performance and consistency.

The great thing I notice in Tamim is his Confidence personified in all his expressions a La Vivian Richards Style - It seems to say I am the boss, I am the man in control - You opposition guys are school kids. I will treat you with disdain. Watch out!

Again my gut feeling is that 5 years from now if he maintains his fitness and form he is a sure shot. Take my word. This is off course my opinion. So No offense Prantika.

Thanks a lot for sharing your views.

Take care.

Cheers!

Hello Nawreen,

Warm welcome to you.

Don't worry Tamim is not going to be made captain before 5 years.

As you can see and it is a fact he has 4 qualites that is essential to be a good Captain.

Confidence - When he walks out to bat and nonchalantly goes after the attack without any fear half of the battle is won.

Second consistent peformer. His batting statistics speaks for itself.

One of the few Bd players who can boast of being an outstanding fieldsman.

Last but not the least very fluent and confident when dealing with media. In fact better than either Saqib or Rahim if you have seen any of his interviews.

Leadership qualities will come with experience. But I have a feeling he has a good understanding of the game.

I would say a perfect candidate for a Future Captain 5 years from now. Take my word.

Thanks for sharing your views.

Take care.

All the best!

Cheers!

The name is Tamim with just one M ...

No need to reinvent the wheel here, in any language.

Thank you sohel bhai. Although, I must say that you too have invented some new names. Nevertheless, its not about pointing out your hypocrisy, rather it is about preventing a new lame nick which will make some of the Indian sitcoms actually worth watching.

Sharp enough and point taken Tonoy ...

Anyway, what's so cryptic about "Tam-mim" as opposed to "Tamim" ? What I am I missing here ?

Indians SC's actually worth watching without being under the influence of something, green or any other color ? Now that would be a cold day in hell or the day I vote Republican or BAL/BNP/JIB/BJP, take your pick, or support Pakistan in anything.

Hello Sohel Bhaiyya,

Your are absolutely right. It is Tamim and not Tammim. It was not a slip of writing .It was a spelling error.

Thanks for pointing out.

This is the advantage of feedback.

I also reconfirmed as a double check from Wikipedia which I am reproducing here :

Tamim Iqbal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tamim Iqbal Khan (Bengali: তামিম ইকবাল খান) (b. 20 March 1989) in Chittagong.

I have also corrected the spelling on my thread and a couple of posting replies related to this thread.

I appreciate your observation.

Cheers!

OMG! a Tamz thread
I like the magic moments. I hope to see more of these magic from Tamim in the up coming series and all the other games he plays. i hope he finishes his career as not only the best batsmen of BD, but i would like to see him ranked as one of the top 10 batsmen in the world. ( if that's possible for a BD player)
