All good but Faruq was saying (video part 4 above) we are playing the tri nation, asia cup, champions trophy!!! I thought we're out of champions trophy as we are out of top 8 teams in the world. Any comment ?? Are we really playing in the champions trophy?

selectors need to know u19 forgein teams r worse than bd club teams, except india-U19. thats why picking players from u-19 for doing good should not be a standard...
kobey amra shikbo... amra player der dosh dai 8 year ey kichu shikey nai but what about the management who has easir job than the players...

Hello nsd3 Bhaiyya,
It was a slip of tongue from Faruk not intended though. He was trying to say we have other commitments this year.
In the champons trophy to be held in Pakstan in September this year only the top 8 one day cricket teams are included. Bangladesh and Zimbabwe being 9th and 10th in ODI rankng thus has unfortunately been left out.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!

We should arrange a quadrangular series with Zimbabwe, Kenya and Ireland at home during the Champions Trophy to beef up the averages.

Siddons - Under Performance Exposed
Hello Amethyst,
Thanks for the links.
One of the many things I liked about the Talk show is it clearly exposed the under performance of Siddons since he took over the mantle of Coach.
The participants clearly exposed a number of Siddons' shortcomings which I like many other readers have already been saying umpteen times on threads and postings.
It may be summarized as follows :
Siddons said ( in a recent Inerview with a journalist) : We did not achieve much as a One day team.
Faruk said - We have achieved a number of victories including against stronger teams of the likes of India and South Africa especially after 2004 whch obviously was under Dav.
All the participants were crtiical about negative expectations from Siddons.
If we do not have expecations how are we going to achieve better.
This is commonsense, a school kid will understand that.
Bulbul explicitly pointed out that our bench mark should be World cup 2007 where we achieved great success against the likes of India and South africa. We have to move forward from that which totally contradicts with Siddons' Vision that we have to go step by step meaning starting from scratch.
No wonder Siddons is a clever customer.
The particpants have rightly pointed and expressed concern about Ash and Aftab two key players form going down the hill since Siddons took over. Bulbul clearly said you cannot change technique of established players. Introducing team rules etc is backfiring.
I personally feel it is simply not working.
What is the bottom line ?
Siddons is a misfit as Head Coach of Bangladesh. He is a good Batting Coach - No question about that.
Unless he brings about victories for us this year, Selectors have to think hard and go for other options.
Cheers!

Hello bdcahmp20 Bhaiyya,
I agree with you 100% . It will help to restore confidence in some of the out of form players . BCB , Coach Siddons will have the luxury to try some talented players like Sajidul Islam, Dollar Mahmud,Shuvo, Imrul kayes etc against the lesser known teams. This will help BCB and Coach to asses them before transitioning them to play against stronger outfits like Pakistan, India, Sri lanka and West indies.
We all know that was the method in place durng Faruk & Co and Dav Whatmore's time.
Saqib, Farhad, Rahim and Tamim all payed aginst Zimbabwe first to become battle ready. The results is for all to see. All four mentioned with the exception of Rahim (he has been recalled now) forms an integral part of our national team.
Thanks for the good idea.
Cheers!

When Farquk was the chief selector, he used to say the same.
Now after being dumped by the BCB he has changed his tunes.
