Default death to the management (figuratively speaking)

Leaving Syed Rasel out of an ODI tournament is the dumbest thing the BCB has done since I've been following cricket. Asides from branding Mohammad Rafique a ODI specialist and robbing him of around 50 Test wickets, the BCB is out to again mitigate what a promising young career. And this one actually hurts us more.

I've stuck up for Siddons a lot recently to the ire of Miraz and Eshen, but if he has something to do with Rasel's absence, I can't forgive him. He should go NOW.

I am beginning to smell a conspiracy here. When a team drops a Syed Rasel in favor of a Farhad Reza and Dollar Mahmud, I will always ask questions.

Here are our pacers stats against Great 8 sides:

Rasel: 23 matches, 26 wickets, 34.30 avg, 4.55 econ

Farhad: 15 matches, 10 wickets, 50.90 avg, 6.27 econ
Dollar: 2 matches, 2 wickets, 34.50 avg, 8.62 econ
Shahadat: 13 matches, 7 wickets, 81.42 avg, 6.26 econ

Mash: 45 matches, 41 wickets, 46.24 avg, 5.23 econ

Rasel is far better than any of our other pacers, mashrafee included. for him to left out for no reason, warrants an explanation from the BCB and all those responsible.

Bangladesh will not achieve anything by playing their sub-par XI.

I don't think Rasel is 100% fit...but if he is I absolutely agree with u. There's no way Dollar or Reza should get the nod ahead of Rasel. And as big of as a Rajib fan as I'm, I've to admit Rasel is more effective in ODI's at this point than the butcher. I see no reason wht we can't go with rasel, mash, Shahadat and Razzak every game. this shuffling with or bowling attack has to stop! out bowling hardly ever loses us matches..it's the batting that sucks...and those superstars (Ash, SN, Aftab, tamim) stays in game after game despite having embarassing statistics...and bowlers are the ones beong subjected to revolving doors!!!!
death to the management indeed (i'm figuaratively speaking too )

100% agreed with the Rasel factor! Nomatter who says what, Rasel should be given the opportunity to come back with open arms! He was one of the few bangladeshi bowlers who were at that level. Yes he is not higher up in the charts, but he is definitely more effective than anyone else!

Rasel needs to come back into the playing XI circuit ASAP!!!

well as much as i've defended siddons recently, the truth is i'm really defending his plan for the team rather than siddons himself, as i said in the other thread he'd probably do better as just a batting coach. he's not exactly great at dealing with the media and i tend to agree some of his idea's do hurt the team such as leaving bowlers out of the team due to lack of pace e.g. rasel.

as for the bowling as a unit, part of the reason they've been doing worse under siddons is probably because of all the shuffling around. mortaza, razzak and shakib are pretty set in stone but rasel, reza, shahadat, dollar, nazmul hossain and sajidul have all be rotated in and out of the team in a period of about 7 months.

bowling as a unit is the same batting as a unit and as playing the game as a team, the more players play with each other the better they get to know each others game and the better the chemistry becomes and the better the team works together to get things done. not that it's an excuse for performing badly but it certainly doesn't help when the bowling unit is constantly changing.

but yes, keeping rasel out of the ODI team is really stupid, only reason he shouldn't be there is injury but since he's playing for the A team atm he can't be too badly injured.

Yesterday I was stunned to see him playing for the A team. I thought he was injured. If he can play 4 days' matches, he certainly can play one dayers.

Shahadat may be a bit expensive, but his presence helps others. He is always experimenting and threatening the batters and helps to unsettle the batsmen.

Rusel should alsobe there. Russel balls better upfront and Shahadat balls at the depth. And has a possibility of reversing the ball towards the end. Russel adds variation in speed, economical and that might help other ballers to get wickets as well. His presence would make a good balling unit.

me too......and he also bowled 10 overs.....
If Russell is not 100%.....then he should be resting.......and if he is ok to play then what he is doing in Ireland?

Russell is playing is Ireland with "A" team....and Dollar is in Asia cup.....STRANGE SELECTORS!!!!

You mean playing Dolar ahead of Rasel is criminal ? It really does not make sense if you are saying it the other way.

I think it is the 3rd worst decision. And you are right, labeling rafique as ODI bowler was worse than his, so that is second.

But the worst decision ever made by management (and they are still making it) is of course including alok kapali in the squad after 2003.

well i think alok can play as a spinner. out batting suckz. We rather focus more on restricting our opponents in 240 range.

I prefer the following bowling line up:

1. mashrafee
2. Russel
3. Razzak
4. Sakib
5. Alok
6. Few occasional overs with Riad

Dear selector,
Will begging help? If that all it takes (knowing BD people) I beg you to bring back Rasel immediately.

Rubu,
don't start again. Alok/JO supporters never learn. You missed the last one; Captaincy. It seems to be there is enough potential in him to be a good captain.
