Thumbs up Format change for Dhaka Premier League.

CCDM today has decided to change the format of the Dhaka premier league.

They have taken some good decisions.

Some of the decisions are:

One. They will play a 90 over match in 2 days instead of the 50 over match.

Two: There will be a 4-day cricket tournament among the top 6 clubs.

Bangladesher Khela, The Daily Star

Quote:
According to Golam Moha-mmed Alamgir's scheme, a two-day format would be re-introduced as the Premier League with each 90 overs being played on each day. He also hoped that the top six teams will participate in a competition called the CCDM Cup.

"We'll implement this (new format) in the Premier Division so that we can groom many longer version players,” Alamgir said after his introductory meeting with club representatives.

Will they gona change the pitch too...i am tired of seeing slow medium pacers getting all the wickets in leagues but can not do anything when they picked for national teams and also our batsmen scoring tons of runs can not even score consistently 30s with tougher opponents.

Fix the pitches. Get some training for the coaches, umpires and curators. If necessary hire some folks from abroad. SL, India, even Pakistan can loan some folks for three month basis.

Changing the format was good, with the above changes and having high quality foreign players in each team the standard would automatically increase.

The highest beneficiary would be the players. The experience would be priceless to them.

Good initiatives.

But, I think we still need a proper 50-over tournament.
Is the "Damal Memorial Tournament" going to be a 50 over or 20 over affair?
The boys are still going to play ODI series in both home and overseas and the lack of enough OD's can have an effect on their performance in the intl level.

So, if i get it right,
there will be

T20 Tournament to begin with
Followed by
CCDM Cup ( 90 overs )
Followed by
NCL
- 4 Days
- One Dayers

am i right? or i just mixed it all up?

You are wrong. You are all messed up. Wait till they give the schedule. Then figure out our intl schedule. Then start mixing and matching.

what I understood from the news:

- T20 Tournament to begin with (Premier Cricket League team)
- Premier Division Cricket League (90 overs each side - 2 days match)
- Followed by a 4-days tournament play by top 6 Premier Cricket League Team (will try to get the FC status through BCB-ICC)
- New Budget is - 50 Lakhs
- Premier Division Cricket League Team will get donation 10 Lakhs taka (instead of 7.5 lakhs last year)

- National Cricket League (4-days FC match + One dayers)

-Damal Memorial Tournament (only for First Division Clubs will play - One dayers)
- First Division League (One dayers)

Can some one explain to me how Powerplays and the Noball rules are going to be implemented in this 180 over game? Are New Balls going to be given after the 35th over like they are in ODI? Any Quotas for bowler?

The most Important Question how are Team rules going to be effected? is 480 the new Target score?

JO can average 100+ in this form of the game, It'll be hard to distinguish class players from bad players, Selection on performances based on this league, need to go to the A team/Test Team. I hope they realize that 400 needs to be the bare minimum score in this 90 over game, I wouldn't be surprised when teams get shot out for 180 batting 70 overs.

I know you know so not answering for you.
No powerplays, just a single run for no ball. No new ball after 35 overs. However, one can get a new ball after 80 overs. No quotas for bowlers.

Whats our target in test innings? 967 runs? I hope they round it up and make it a cool 1000. That is good. we need to target the good.

If he can average that Spitty would be his #1 supporter.

I don't like the idea of two four-day leagues in the same season. More matches in a season will mean players will have less time to recuperate and curators will have less time for pitch maintenance. In result, we will see lesser quality matches. At this point, we need to develop the quality of domestic leagues, not to increase the quantity of leagues. Look at Pura Cup (Aus), they give long intervals between matches.

Also, I don't like to see players switching between teams in a season. For competitive cricket, team integrity is important, and to develop team integrity players need to stick with one team throughout a season.

IMO, BCB should ditch NCL. They have poured lots of money in NCL last year, yet could not make a competitive tournament out of it. Knowing how corrupt and inefficient our regional sports bodies are, it's impractical to expect independent FC teams (which, IMO, is also a requirement for competitive cricket) may evolve out of divisions. Clubs on the other hand are also corrupt, but are still efficient enough to stand on their own. Also, as opposed to divisions, clubs have their own financial sources (although they still partially depend on BCB grants). IMO, clubs are much better fit to develop their own independent professional FC teams in comparison to divisions. BCB have developed NCL following state based completions in Australia, but in our case Sri Lanka's club based leagues are more appropiate.

finally some one agrees with me...format change is mandatory but other changes required immediate actions if we want to improve. If we want to remain a crap team, then no comments.

People (Read young) r forgetting something here. If you can play TEST you can do play any kind of cricket. This 90 over game is to improve our TEST players not for ODIs and 20/20. To me we should stop playing 20/20 all together... Those who wants to have cheap thrill like watching hindi movies likes 20/20(IMO). there is nothing good in there. Then why not watch baseball.

Anyway main thing is we need to do every thing we can to improve our TEST players then every thing will fall into places...

spot on.

BCB should forget about 20-20. i don't care if we lose every 20-20 match ever. as long as we improve in the ODI and Test formats.

And for this sole reason we can not ditch NCL. Yes more pitches are required. Chairman shaheb has said he would address those issues. Yes, players can get tired. For teens and 20 year olds, rainy season is enough to recuperate. The benefit is beyond the short-term. If the picnic mode is gone, I am happy.

The more tournament the players play, the more time they spend in organized environment. That helps them on staying close to the game. Money is also an issue.

BCB needs to make sure the clubs have good physios.

preparation for 20/20 is waste to time for our dum darakka players. Our batsmen will score 150+ anways on the other hand can score 90 all out too. Unlike other teams they are no way near to score 200 runs in 20 overs.
Top priority is to fix -
our standard in ODI
our standard in test
our standard in batting based on what level of games
our standard in bowling which was once decent
our fielding which went down also
....
overall everything :|

Twenty20 has revolutionized how cricket is played nowadays. IMO, our players' learning process will be incomplete if they don't get to practice in this format.

I said it before, am saying it again: Our players need to be banned from playing T20. On T20 match day say in WCs (which we can't avoid), just ask them to play their natural game.

No doubt all teams in ODI are now playing like 20/20 and then stabilize the innings ending up scoring 300s. But if our players are that much a good learner they would have learned by now how to play ODI even in old ODI format. Ulo bone mukto chorano...

Off topic i read it some where that While BCB training was going on for Canada picnic and Australia tour Mash was playing football with his para polapain and ended with khichuri as it was raining.

This is called professional Player. Who would pay if he got injured while playing soccer in rain? And no wonder he is getting that tummy...

How do you expect him to stay fit if he is not physically active ? Let him enjoy his life once in a while.

The good news

Quote:
Alamgir, who is also the chairman of the tournament committee, informed that the Premier League matches would now be on two-day basis with 90 overs played on each day.

Later, the top six teams (super six) will play four-day matches for the CCDM Cup. "We'll implement this in the Premier Division so that we can groom many longer version players," Alamgir said.

He said they would appeal to ICC to accord recognition to the next season's CCDM Cup as First Class tournament.
BCB Elections may F this up!

Quote:
Although the BCB election is knocking at the door, the CCDM chairman sounded positive about fulfilling all the initiatives he plans to take. "You have to keep things rotating… also have to take everything with a positive attitude."
