Default The return of Shahriar Nafees? Possible solution for the #3 position?

I know I am jumping the gun here. But I really do feel as though SN could be the ideal number three batsman which we are looking for. So far he has a score of

26, 65, 103, 19, 3, 70, 23, 28,128*= 465 runs

With an average of 58.125. What is even better is the fact that his lowest score was made when he opened the innings. So, if we are to include only the score made from the number three position, then his stats would be

26, 65, 103, 19, 70, 23, 28,128*= 462 runs

with an average of 66.

Let's compare this with some top contenders that are playing at the number three spot

Aftab Ahmed
8 innings 243 runs with an average of 30.75(The match against biman was ignored because he played at no. 4 position)

Aslam Ali 9 innings(19,56,57,2,13,66,5,48,50) 316 runs with an average of 35.1

Will add more

It looks to me that his performance is quite ahead from the other batsmen playing at number three position.

all i know is Ashraful's has to lose the number 3 position, and right now SN is definitely making a good case for himself.

I also hope SN will fit well in #3 spot. But then again, it may not be wise to get carried away with his DPL stats. In past also he had done well in DPL and extremely well against international minnows, but continued to be miserable against stronger teams.

SN is now best solution for no.3 position. But concerning things nowadays he is playing slow innings.

SN already made a solid case why he should be in the team.

1. The cooling period is gone or will be gone before the next series.
2. He has the experience (that some other new players may not have) so "lack of experience" issue cannot be used against him
3. he is in-form
4. He is one of the top scorers with consistent runs in one of the most important slot ( i.e. #3) in local league and can immediately fill a big hole (#2 and #3) in our national team's batting order.

I really don't want to see those action replays ANYMORE!! so painful!
against quality bowling - going to backfoot and poking the ball to keeper/1st/2nd slip ..... dejavu!! oh no, not again!

SN is the only one who has made a solid case for a recall in the nation team.

Yes those are quite painful to watch. It is almost as painful to watch as Junaid using his front foot to drive against a short pitched ball, or Ashraful mispulling a good length ball and smiling about it, or Tamim mindlessly charging a fast bowler after playing and missing for a couple of times, or Mushfiq being too late to put his bat down on an yorker length ball, or watching Roqib batting on a t20. I could go on and on. The point I am trying to make here is we have to stick with what we have got best. We don't have anyone as gifted as a Ponting or a Clarke. If we did, then we wouldn't have been ranked 9th.

Besides, if SN was so susceptible to good fast bowling, then he would not have done so well against in the test arena. This is the guy who has scored against australia, sri lanka, and south africa.

That's how I see it as well. SN has the experience and the form and is a foot in, but we'll have to wait and see. Those who are worried about his disabilities against tough opponents might find some comfort in the fact that our current #3 doesn't score against minnows either.

I can still see the images of him driving gillespie through the covers and sweeping warne and maggil out of the attack... he definately proved it then that he CAN play and play wonderful, and now he has the mentality, he WANTS to play good, he wants to come back, and thats the result we are seeing in the DPL.. i dont see a single reason why he shouldnt be back immediately.

the selectors are obviously not going to change two top batsmen so if SN hopes to be on the team he has to demonstrate his capabilities as an opener so that he can replace JS
alt. Rony should be given the responsibility

failed to understand the logic.

If the top two continously fail, what value they bring by keeing them?

They think hiding the issue under the blanket will suddenly solve the problem by itself?

To be clear SN is competing for #3 not #2 (by playing #3 in DPL). IF he is selected he should be selected for #3 not #2. SN hasn'r made a case yet in local league that is a good candidate for opining slot yet.

I think Ashraful is eyeing the opening spot of JS... .

So no 3 is big filling position...

Good strategy by Takklu Siddon and Co.
You fail at #5, you get promoted to #3.

Then You fail at #3, again you get promoted to #2?

Just wondering what is next after failure at #2? Back to #11?

I heard he will also be considered for wicketkeeping as soon as he crosses Mash on the catch list.

Bechara Rahim-er kopal purlo... he was expecting attack will come from front to uproot him, not expecting enemy comming from nowhere....too powerful enemy to fightback...better to handover the arms and surrender.

May be Sir will be kind enough and campagin for Rahim to be the opener instead.
