Bangladesh Nominated for ICC "Spirit of Cricket" Award

Here we go...Bangladesh has been nominated for "ICC Spirit of Cricket" Award 2008. Sri Lanka, West Indies, and New Zealand are other contenders for this award.

This is how the winner will be decided:

While the Spirit of Cricket Award will be voted on by all the international captains as well as all members of the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, the Umpire of the Year Award will be voted on by the captains and the match referees.

Unlike previous two years, no emerging ODI or Test player this time around. Tamim Iqbal Khan could have made it in the Emerging Players list though.

WHY? We might suck in cricket, but our players never do anything that goes against the spirit of the game. Just a few days ago we set an example.

Don't know how SL made it to the list. They have pretty good reputation for sledging.

I think the spirit of cricket should be based on this: "It's a gentleman's game. So whoever plays gently, and gives away his wicket without showing the bowler any form of aggression, is a gentleman".

Clearly, we're ahead of the game if the above is the criterion.

lose we may....you know what i have noticed....the pure adrenaline rush when throwing the direct hits....and not just in the last games...but in general.....they literally throw themselves at it.....remember even when we were losing against pakistan....ash saved a possible boundary brilliantly and then had the man runout with a direct throw...it was a spectucular sight....this is ultimately what a spirit should be all about...whether we be underdogs...whether we lose....but when we express ourselves with the direct hits some from 5-6 yards distance with batsmen miles off his crease....it's breathtakingly noteworthy

Sounds like a consolation award.
Since we suck in pretty much everything and have absolutely no chance of getting any real award, they thought why not give this to Bangladesh.

At least thier crazy fans can be happy about something.

Plus, after loosing every match day in day out, our boys certainly gets some credit for atleast showing up on time.

Come on guys at least they didn't do what NZ or SL thinks normal in a cricket match. And btw BD has been doing this from the very beginning I mean even in the *** games they would never run out or something in those situation.

So I would say good job BD keep it up.
