Nafees and Alok are banned.

Imrul should be given more chances. He shouldn't have debuted in SA. He should play against SL at home and if he fails again, then we can send him back to Academy team.

Ashraful should be dropped from the Test team. He should play in the Club leagues and NCL remaining games. Club league have 2-day games now so its better for him to play these games and get his forms back.

1. Tamim
2. Imrul
3. Junaid
4. Raqibul
5. Mushfique
6. Mehrab
7. Shakib
8. Mortaza *
9. Nayeem/Razzak
10. Shahadat
11. Mahbub

12. Rasel
13. Sajid
14. Nayeem/Razzak
15. Ashraful (Stand by)

Nafis Iqbal shouldnt come near to National team now. He is not even doing well against the other discards/rookies in NCL. So how you can expect him to do well in the international level?

No offense intended; but I do not understand why you guys do spend your time with such squad selection threads after each and every series. The outcome is all the same. Can you justify your selection through performance analysis of such squads after the end of the series?

As I see it there are two positions in the team up for grabs. One is for a specialist batsman, one-down or number five, and the other is an allrounder, specialist bowler slot. I expect Imrul and Nayeem to be dropped for the next series. I hope not, but when Siddon's let the rest of the world know how little faith he has in their abilities, it's difficult to see them in the team again now. Did the selectors really gauge their mettle by exposing them to the S.African test battery, where the entire team floundered? I would want at least Imrul in the squad against the Srilankans.

Murali alone has decimated us time after time. Now we have the additional threat of Mendis to contend with. It will be difficult for us to cross 200. But this business of playing 3 specialist bowlers has never succeeded and never will. I would want us to also play to our strengths and play 3 spinners. My team for the first test would be:

Tamim
Junaid
Roqibul
Ashraful
Mushfiq
Mehrab
Sakib
Mashrafee
Razzak
Shahadat
Enam/Nabil

if that was the case we'd have a team look like this:

and then we would never have the few, but ever more frequent successes that we have.

i also favor giving imrul a chance...he might be good against spin (he did have successes against SL academy). ash will not be dropped, so he might as well hog a place. no point even discussing it anymore. he's either a potential match winner, or a waste. time to get beyond that. one man is not bigger than the team, though i thought so before.

i doubt 3 spinners will do anything against SL asides from ensure a good over rate. sakib, i am convinced will take wickets and hold his own against anyone. others probably will not. razzak or enam would prolly go for 30-5-120-1.

my squad:

1) tamim
2) imrul
3) junaid
4) raqib
5) ash
6) sakib
7) rahim
8) naeem
9) mashrafee
10) shahadat
11) robin

bench:

sajid
N Iqbal
Enam Jr

reckon all of imrul, naeem and alam should be given ago in home conditions, for that reason i'd keep them all in the squad, tbh i probably wouldn't make any changes to the squad.

I agree. The problem is not with who's in the team..the problem is how the team is performing as a unit. Look at how many runouts we got yesterday. We again collapsed in under 50 overs. It wasn't coz the pitch was dangerous. We really have to keep to plan, and work as a unit. And to work as a unit, we just need to keep playing the same people, long as they're half decent.
Imrul never played a rash shot, so that's a good sign. However, a need 3 pacers and spinners in Bangladesh for tests. Zunaed scored a fifty. I'm disappointed with Tamim...he should lead the way. Ash..the only person who hasn't done anything good battingwise in this series. Sakib's great with ball, but what happened with batting?

Naeem isn't ready for test cricket. Mehrab should be ok for next series,he did score in the first test. But he really need to be more consistent.
Mushfiq should bat at 6, with Ash at 7/8. This should be the lineup:
1.Tamim 2. Junaed 3. Rakib 4. Sakib 5. Mushfiq 6.Ash 7. Mehrab 8. Razzak 9.Mashrafee 10. Mahbubul. 11. Shahadat

In ODIs, chuck in Imrul instead of Mehrab and put Ash at 4.

BD should only focus on batting and how to play 5 day test cricket.

it doesnt matter who plays in the team.

other wise, our test match will be 3 day test: a special format for BD cricket only

I think Bd is worst than Zimbabwe ATm

But one question to ponder after this series. Look at the number of wickets taken by Shakib, and those by our three pacers. There were a lot of statements from our SELECTORS (Mainly), and Team Management that you will have to play three pacers given the conditions. Truth is no matter how much problem our pacers cause at the end of the day it will be the spinners getting the wicket. And i wonder if having an extra specialist spinner could have made a difference. This is a key learning. As in economics every country has its comparitive advantage. Ours is a plethora of good spinners, its a pity we dont utlize them.

i disagree, it just happened that mr. al-hasan was brilliant, alhamdulillahi rabbil a'lamin

our pacers failed to impress significantly for one reason: lack of pace(speed) and bounce...need to clock 135kmph+ consistently to trouble world class batsmen at their home turf anyways.

Shahadat failed to fire...
then again, i wouldn't have minded if Razzak was playing, he would be a good test spinner as well...(and a tailender batsmen like Mortaza)

the likely selection:

Tamim
Mehrab
Rahim
Shakib
Rakib
Ashraful
Naeem
Junaed
Mortaza
Razzak
Mahbubul

i think this batting lineup in this order would be fruitfully ideal for 400+ inshallah if batsmen stick to basics and just bat it out against Sri Lanka, it is possible!

i agree with muradnyc, Imrul should be given one more try at home, let's see what happens...but i didn't include him for obvious reasons.

Shahadat is seriously out of his prime form(lack of pace and bounce), i wouldn't mind if he is included though.

without the ICL ban i would have included Kapali and Nafees and out would go naeem and razzak!

I want to see the same team against SA test except Shahadat & Imrul.
I think Imrul needs more time & Shahadat is hopeless, wicketless & to expensive to afford.
I want Naeem to replace Imrul & Razzaq to replace Shahadat.

Default Whats going on?

i feel bad for Imrul Kayes. he is seriously out of place. I agree with everyone here, send him back to get his confidence back. This guy got so frustated, he is plagued by fear. Just look at his face during the 3rd ODI. He is overcooked for now.

And someone promised to do a player analysis chart after each series. I cant remember who it was. He even had a name for it. I think you can find his excel charts in the forums. but he needs to put that up more often. So we can understand who is talking sense with numbers and who is just talking out of some bizarre love and loyalty for some players.
