Should be interesting, lets see how Pietersen and angry Flintoff flourishes under Strauss.

The legacy and pride of England visit to WI, always carries that lost flavour. Doesn't it?

There is no Gatting, Lamb, Greenidge, Richards, Lara, Ambrose, Walsh, Gooch, Gower, Botham, Marshall, Atherton or Haynes.

so..... its basically number 7 vs number 8. I am expecting a kind of banal series in caribbean archipelago, where we will see people like Gayle, Chanderpaul, Collingwood and Strauss hitting the biggies; fielders are showing poor, naive display of grounding vital catches, missing stumps; where bowlers getting wickets in wayward deliveries and throwing a grimace to their victims afterward; batsmen giving up their valuable wickets for nothing like Mr. Ashraful and co. and all those below par mockeries ...

So, it doesnt worth keeping an eye on that series.

Now this is what I call a real series! Starts in late January and ends in March! When will Bangladesh ever have a long series against a G8 Nation? It seems like all of our tours are 3 ODIs and 2 Tests.

I always enjoy watching and following Windies-England especially in the West Indies. There is that carnival atmosphere contributed from the fans and also the barmy army.
Something special always happens on such tours, I remember back in 2004 when Harmy took 7-12 and Lara's 400*. There is no Lara this time round to improve on his world record as he likes playing England but its all set to be an intriguing series and cant wait to watch it even though the balance of power currently favours England.

I notice England are not playing Panasar.
Anyone know if he is resting?
Without their best bowler, they're looking like a bit soggy.

If the B team (I insist on calling a spade a spade) do this to them,
England are going to be fighting uphill throughout the series.

Great to see a bit of depth in the grand old windies.

The thing is, this West Indies A apart from sarwan, chanders and gayle is a better team than the west indies. The problem is that the West Indies selectors are terrible

Edit: They finished the day on 343/2 with Simmons 171 not out

Should Lendl Simmons be given a chance for debut?

Ok folks, its time to set off now. The first test is about to start at the Sabina Park in Kingston. Traditionally it is one of the most fastest pitch of the Caribbeans. I was also surprised not to see the name of Lendl Simmons in home team's squad. I guess the hosts will take the leverage ahead of this match as the tourists are a bit besieged by off-the-pitch controversies. Waiting for some competitive cricket.

England (probable) 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Ian Bell, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Andrew Flintoff, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Ryan Sidebottom, 10, Steve Harmison, 11 Monty Panesar

West Indies (probable) 1 Chris Gayle (capt), 2 Devon Smith, 3 Ramnaresh Sarwan, 4 Xavier Marshall, 5 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 6 Brendan Nash, 7 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 8 Jerome Taylor, 9 Daren Powell, 10 Amit Jaggernauth, 11 Fidel Edwards

1st Test about to get under way.

Go West Indies!

Will Edwards vs. Strauss be the new Ambrose vs. Atherton?

Andrew Strauss wins the toss and decides to bat first on what looks like a pretty good batting surface.

Starting XIs
England: Andrew Strauss*, Alastair Cook, Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Matt Prior+, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, Steve Harmison, Monty Panesar

West Indies: Chris Gayle*, Devon Smith, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Xavier Marshall, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brendan Nash, Denesh Ramdin+, Jerome Taylor, Daren Powell, Suleiman Benn, Fidel Edwards

Taylor not really testing the batsmen in the first over, bowling outside off and Strauss leaving. Maiden.

Edwards nearly getting an edge off Cook in his first ball. Fidel Edwards is one of the most exciting pacers to watch nowadays. And England and Cook are off the mark.
