I'd love to have Mash back for Tests but I'd rather think long term and just have him focus on the shorter forms. Tests would be too demanding for a player that's so injury prone. Think about it, lets say he gets a serious injury from playing a Test match and all of a sudden he's out of ODIs for a long time. It won't be worth it. That being said, Shahadat should not be in the team. Stick with the other pacers we have in the squad. They aren't the ideal options but hopefully with time they'll come good.

i am divided about playing mash, 10 overs from mash is better then 100 overs from abul, srk rubel combined, but i saw mast in the BPL final..he was struggling to bowl 4 overs, constant cricket in BPL was tough for him, its established that mash cant take load anymore, test cricket might be enough for permanently putting him in the sideline, in short we would kill the only golden goose of pace bowling we have

but on the other hand we could use mash tactfully in the test..say mash bowls with the 1st and 2nd new ball only..say 12 overs a innings..those 12 overs a innings will be more valuable as other fast bowlers cant take wickets with the new ball, and lets say we dont let mash field that much..since he'll bowl only 12 overs we can manage his fielding time so he can bowl without restriction from the cricketing law

yeah unfortunately playing tests would be a bit much for him, even not playing tests he finds it hard to stay on the park. i reckon he should help with a bit of coaching at least while he's injured.

Mash may miss the whole ZIM tour based on his current fitness.

Mortaza eyes international comeback in October

Bangladesh pace bowler Mashrafe Mortaza is targeting the home ODI series against New Zealand in October for his international comeback. His fitness has been boosted by a three-week fitness programme that ended at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.

I know Mashrafe's motivation. He knows every other pacer in the country is crap and that he is the only decent pace bowler in the country...

big heart, gets injured so often, spends more time off the park injured than on the park playing, still the best pacer in the country despite all that.

Mashrafe Mortaza.... wadda playaaaaaa
still the most consistent seamer this country has ever produced. all these injuries were not enough for this man to make a comeback. He inspires everyone around him. He is not someone that wants the glory all by himself. He contributes as much as his body can support and than provides mental support for the ones that need it.

His performance today got hidden behind Gazi, Tamim and others but it was his early breakthrough and than the wicket of Corey Anderson that turned the match around.

Just stay healthy.... thats all we should ask for.

+1 Everyone, including the crowd, gets a lift from Mashrafe's presence. It's still exciting to see him bowl, even after losing some pace.

this is why despite of so many injuries he comes back, this is why he is an auto-selection when he is fit to play.
I also loved the energy he brings to the team, the way he supports the young players, really a role model.

what a player

He looks a lot fitter than the last time we saw him. Just needs to maintain his shape between series. I agree his presence gives a boost to the team.

We almost forgot the warrior I can't even imagine his dedication after all those surgeries.. Can't any of the pacers at least learn something and try like him. Rubel was back to where he was but Mash just continues to provide service relentless...

Still needs to stop peeing his pants when bowling in the death. Hopefully bowling Southee will be a turning point in his career - one of those moments which triggers the belief in him that he can keep his tights intact when bowling past the 40th over.

Although Rubel was a bit inconsistent and Mash got bashed in that last over before that last wicket, I thought this was the best display of fast bowling (well this and the other night) that we've seen from our quicks in a while (barring Robiul in Zim). Both were consistently shaping it away from the batsman and getting good carry, which is a refreshing change from watching Anisul Islam Anis, Saiful Islam, Bikash Ranjan Das and Shahadat Hossain bounce it thrice before reaching the keeper over the years. Rubel was also getting some zip off the pitch, bowled a couple of good bouncers and seems to have developed a nice slower one.

We just need two decent fast bowlers who can keep it tight and a third medium fast who can also bowl to a line and length. Our spinners are good enough to take care of the rest.
