Maharashtra Ranji Trophy team wants to visit BD!!
It's a prothom-alo news today. Link
Summary:Maharashtra Ranji Trophy team wants to visit BD in May. Maharashtra head coach Shaun Williams who was with BD team for few years doing the liaison. They want to play against BD-A team - 3 ODI, 3 T20 and 2 Three-Day game between May 9th - May 29 2009. BCB's Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Enayet Hossain welcomes this idea but says in that period SA and SL academy team supposed to visit BD most likely few A-Team player will include in academy team which might result a weaker A team for Maharashtra series.
I really like this idea playing against a good Ranji side. The more we play with different teams the more we learn! Hope it happens in May outside Dhaka and promotes cricket in all over BD.

excellent initiative by Shaun Williams. I hope BCB can field a full strength side and have 4 day matches instead of 3 day matches. We need to develop our first class abilities greatly.

i hope this happens and hope that they don't have too many national players. it's home turf so there's not much to gain for national players other than maybe playing some ok quality opposition but the reserve players get less of a chance to do that than the national players and deserve the opportunities when they're supposed to be getting those opportunities (and not have them stolen by national players). it's one thing to pick a lot of national players on an A tour when they could gain experience form the various conditions (still unfair on the reserves though) but when it's at home there's not much point imo.
want to see them try nout players like shuvo, mithun, rony, shamsur, robiul, sajidul, nabil samad, nazmus, subashis, delwar, nasir, marshall, maybe even abul hasan.

Marshal, Shuvo, Shamsur are most likely to play against the SL side at that time.

pretty sure the Maharashtra team would be stronger than the SA and SL academy teams so i'd pick them for the Maharashtra series but who knows what the selectors would do.

Absolutely spot on. there is no point playing the international players, they get exposure to high level players every now and then, but the upcoming players need exposure to some good players, and Maharastra should be able to provide that. More of an academy team should play maharastra. And we have to remember, if our national team trashes MR in eveyr game, it wont mean much, but the experience the knowledge the young blokes will gain will be much more valuable

We should have enough players to compete in few different outfits simultenously.
Nice work by SW.
Only concern for me is the rain.
