"BD in WI" vs "BD u19 in Eng" & RUBEL HOSSAIN
Bangladesh national teams tour to WI
2 tests, 3 ODI, 1 T20 : july 3rd to august 2nd
Bangladesh under 19s tour to england
2 four-day matches, 5 ODI's : july 6th to july 24th
RUBEL HOSSAIN :
rubel hossain still 19 eligble to play in both the national team and under 19 team. but as both series are at the same time it won't be possible for him to play in both series.
now he is good enough to be in the national team squad and may be good enough to play in all matches. but his lack of experience may see him out of the test 11. or even in the 11 he may struggle.
in ODI's and T20's may not be a problem for him as has featured for bangladesh in recent times.
So as there is series for the U19's agaisnt the england u19's i think we can give rubel a chance to play there. there he is sure to play all the fourday, and ODI matches and that could be a good exposure for him rather than may be sitting in the dressing room or struggling in the WI games.
and after finishing the england tour he can still play the only T20 match scheduled in WI as the match is one week after the england tour is finished.
Rubel has got his intial taste of how its in the international stage. but to get more ready to play in this stage he needs some more games at a slightly lower level. and the tour of england in the u19 team will be a very good learning experience for him.

I don't want him for the Test but for the ODIs and T20.
He'll get injured in Test and we need him for the shorter version.

Not sure if the little tyke is ready for grueling test in WI. VG is a real deal, much like Ash once was. Lets not squander him too.

If a player is good enough for national team, then why play in U-19?

to get some experience before entering the real test stage.
this tour with the u-19 would be helpful for him to get some exposure

The thread is because both the series are at the same time and where Rubel should play, right?
So, as i said, if he is good enough for selection in Test squad then no point playing age groups. How age group give better exposure/experience than test level?

As rubel is currently playing in England for T20, i would like to see him to play in WI to gain more experience in terms of pitch, environment etc. Doesnt matter how many or what version of cricket he plays, but atleast touring WI would help him for future career.
Regarding U19, lets give other bowler a chance to ball bowler friendly pitches, who knows we might get another Rubel out of tht U19 series.

i wanna see him in the test squad...we need a guy of his gift in the side ASAP.
he's not quite ready, but we don't have any other option. playing dhaka league will never get yuo ready, and we don't have frequent enough A team tours.

We should not waste this opportunity to allow him to have more experience. BD Vs WI is definitly more valuable than to play in U19.

Have patience. Let see if he can create a havoc in England. Shakib had played significant number of games before he was introduced. Playing in English condition has no values? Come on, why we want our players to play in county then? Surely his time will come. WI pitches spinners will be more successful than pacers.
Rubel is no Wasim Akram nor he is Waqar. We want the best Rubel we can get. That would need patience from us and the selectors.

I fear Rubel will be overused if we pick him up for test, we might lose him or his pace like Mash before getting physically grown up. I don’t mind playing him in test, but he should be used very carefully.

But I think playing test in WI condition is more valuable. May be it is spinning condiiton but we also need fast bowler who can bowl well in various condition. If our bowling coach can maintain him, it will be better to play full Test Match.
Finally if he is enough good, he will definitely perform. And if we are optimistic why should not expect an Akram or Waqar or Donald or Hadlee. We are Test Playing Nation.

Mashrafee didnt have that supporting Pace bowler like now Rubel has. In Test he will get support of Mashrafee/Shahdat or both. In ODI he will get support of Mashrafee/Rasel or both. So we have chance to use him in International Level.

He should play ODIs in the Caribbean and play the 4 day matches in England if they don't clash.

For "limited" the short term gain and shear personal pleasure you want to risk the long term. Soon you will call bankruptcy. Been there, done that. AKA Mashrafe, Talha and loads of them.
If you are a test nation then act like one. As a test nation fan, support grooming the real prospects till they are ready. With or without him WI test series has already been decided. Four days and under. If not come back and give me a earful. I'll take my beatings.
