mumzy may not be the greatest compare to others in his genre but I don't think there is any comparison with any other bangaali still working w/ their accent
many of you don't realize that we are comparing mumzy with some mainstream rappers/R&B singers, that in itself is a huge achievement in my opinion.
Good luck mumzi...

ummm....so if i walk down the street with braids, wearing star shaped sunglasses, and smoking pot, and people say I am copying Snoop Dogg, then that's an "achievement"?!!?
no one is "comparing" him with other R&B singers or rappers....we are saying he is a biter

Fact of the matter is he is one of the first few of Bangladeshi origin to have broken into the music scene on an international level. I have respect for that. Whether or not he is copying anyone is not the issue. Even if everyone in this thread start copying neyo we would not be able to get our album released. So being able to successful copy another artist's trait is also hard work. I always look at the bottom line of things. Bottom line is, he is successful in breaking into the music scene in UK. He is the first guy of Bangladeshi origin to be able to do that. I wish him all the success.

w1ck3d aw3s0me s0ng!
I never knew a Bangladeshi could be this talented. I mean seriously, how many of us can create a music video with a white girl? The guy is really living the dream. Boy, this guy has really motivated me to go on with my singing aspirations.
And for all ya dats been hatin and disrespectin ma boy, ya'll know you're just a bunch of haters with no talents.
PEACE YO!

Can't say I'm too impressed with Mumzy's ephemeral derivative tripe, layperson. I'll be surprised if he doesn't fade away quickly.
There certainly are musicians of Bangladeshi origin, of much higher calibre, who are successful in the international scene, if you are willing to look outside music videos. Take, for instance, the jazz pianist Zoe Rahman; check out her version of "Muchhe Jaoa Dinguli," if you want to feel a tad nostalgic.
And that, of course, is without considering individuals like Ustad Ali Akbar Khan who passed away recently.

what those Bengali artists need to realize is that in order to be successful they need to enter the mainstream music like Orpheus has said. you will see many young artists such as those mentioned are too in a 'gangster-type' mode, and will never go no where, people will just label them as wannabes thats it, its time these artists realize R&B type music is the way to go. (although lal miah has gone sme where with his sylheti rapping, well only within community they can't match him). and that is what this guy mumzy has done.

I was going to mention Zoe Rahman but Shaad beat me to it
I dont think much of Mumzy's chosen genre (with exception to Outlandish or Sound of Reason kind of style) nor about his talent (lack of originality). But I wish him good luck...hopefully, someday he can really become an artist of substance and content.
He probably has to get a better stage name too
