Unhappy PCB

The Pakistan Cricket Board is not happy with the stand taken by their Indian counterparts in the special meeting in London which was convened to resolve the deadlock over the hosting of the 2011 World Cup matches.

According to PCB sources, chairman Ejaz Butt was quite unhappy after BCCI president Shashank Manohar did not cooperate with Pakistan in its bid to retain the hosting rights of its share of 14 matches of the quadrennial event.

"Butt is unhappy the Indian cricket chief simply refused to cooperate with Pakistan's proposal of hosting its share of World Cup matches at neutral venues," one source told PTI.

"Initially when Butt met ICC President David Morgan and vice-President Sharad Pawar in London, the latter had assured him things would be resolved," the source added.

But at the joint meeting - attended by Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, besides ICC representatives - the BCCI adopted a strong stance and Pawar told Butt he could not do anything if the Indian board did not want the matches to be held at neutral venues.

Butt left the meeting in a huff after the other co-hosts refused to accept his proposal of allowing Pakistan to host its share of matches at neutral venues in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The sources said Butt also exchanged harsh words with the representative of the Bangladesh board, Mahboob Ali.

"They had an argument with Butt telling Ali Bangladesh also had security issues, so the World Cup matches should not be held there as well," the source said.

Now the U19 tour scrapping makes sense. PCB is out to establish that BD should not host if they can't either.

PCB is trying to bring BCB down with them. Doubt it will work. I mean we have some teams touring us now (i know some indian state team is). Countries are at least willing to tour us (the ones that arn't, its cause we suck, not cause we arnt safe), unlike pakistan.

This is doing PCB no good.
The "white" block was not going to tour their anyways, but they are making sure that NOBODY else does.

They are trying to create a hole in the "pack". Targeting the weakest link, Bangladesh, is the way to go. They are threatning Bangladesh, only to hope they'd give in to their demands and sort of start to agree to their cause.

Let them cancel all their tours.
Who really cares???

FINE. I won't watch any games played by the great "nation" of Paki.... wherever that is. Did not know they played internationals.

I don't even support Pakis at all.i would rather support China cricket team instead of Pakis

This is quite alarming. The petro-dollar fed Paki-lovers in Bangladesh might try a few boms here and there to create a security issue, may be just before the world cup.

bingo!! this is exactly what PCB is trying to establish.

Also, BCCI is playing a game here too. They silently trying to remove Bangladesh and Srilanka too as a host and become the only host of WC 2011.

The reason PCB is bringing not only Bangladesh Cricket, but also Sri Lanka and India Cricket Board down as well because PCB was denied of 14 matches, and the meeting was taken place without PCB in the first place. Technically, the rest of Asian Cricket Board went behind PCB back and betrayed PCB when PCB needed their support.

PCB never ruled the possibly alternate option of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, but the idea of PCB hosting 14 matches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai did irk Indian Cricket and several other Cricket Board, would have gained a lot more matches if PCB doesn't get any. Thank to the money for driven them their mind and decided to alienate Pakistan Cricket now.

The problem is PCB insists to host 14 matches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai but they aren't impressed including Bangladesh Cricket. PCB has already suffered enough and why suffer more?

Pakistan Cricket has nothing to lose because England Cricket Board is already keen to host Pakistan for the long term Test matches. Therefore, we don't care if PCB decides to go against them. They started the first and now, PCB is returning the favor. LOL

I like the idea of PCB standing up on it own now. PCB has never done it before and always cowardly accepted the money to keep their mouth shut. For the first time, they are doing for the sake of Pakistan Cricket.

PCB can host 14 matches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai but they aren't impressed. Why? Take a wild guess, will ya?

The WC hosting is on rotation between ENG, SA, WI, AUS/NZ and the Indian Subcontinent (IND, PAK, BAN, SL). IND/PAK hosted in 87 and IND/PAK/SL hosted in 96.

When the BID went through PAK was part of it. The security issues in PAK is an issue PAK needs to deal with. Their situation should not remove the WC or part of the WC out of the subcontinent. Why should the other three boards agree to send games to UAE? And how can you justify PAK trying to drag down BD with it? If BD was incapable of hosting its game and PAK had the option of taking some of those games you think PCB would allow BCB to outsource those games to another country (like say Malaysia) ?

I myself have never supported Pakistan (though I have a lot of respect for players such as Imran Khan, Md. Yusuf, Inzy etc.) but I also thought that countries like AUS, ENG and NZ were overreacting about not going to Pakistan. But after the attack on the SL team, I have retracted my view and do not want BD or any other country to travel there.

Blaming BCCI, SLC and BCB won't stop the terrorism that is the root cause of the security in Pakistan. The worldcup is supposed to be a SUB CONTINENT event and should stay as such.

I have a suggestion for PCB. Why don't you team up with UAE and bid for one of the future WCs on your own?
