accessibility to players???
as some of you may know, I will be in attendence at the 3rd Bangladesh-West Indies ODI in St Kitts, given that I live just 50 miles away.
anyways, I've never been to a game before, so i have a few questions:
1) does anyone know if i can possibly talk to the players up close, or are there security issues that pretty much make this a no-no?
2) what is the best place to sit in live cricket match...basically i want to know what's going on. i had figured sitting at one of the bowling ends would mean that it would be closest to watching a match on TV for 50% of the game. or should i sit square of the wicket???
3) any special requests in case i get to speak to boys?

I've only ever watched international cricket matches in Bangladesh and there was no way the public could have access to players back there. The WI might be different.

hopefully...you were prolly 1 of 50,000 spectators in dhaka (i'm assuming). WI there might be 1000 max...99% of those will prolly be windies fans, so i'm hoping to be good.

Asad bhai won't be able to go the dressing room but could meet the players before and after the match in WI. In subcontinent which is impossible as a spectator!

as far my experience in last world cup in st kitts, we stayed in hotel marriott, where all the player stayed. If u sit close to dressing room, there is a ground sitting area,u have very good option of chit chat with players. personally i met whole australia team and south africa team in the hotel after their team meeting.we went to the same bar with hershelle gibbs and smith. sean tait and wkt keeper brad haddin went to beach tour with us. ponting asked me a favor to carry one box for him , while he was carrying 2 boxes. i wanted to see how is their room, so agreed and we had nice conversation with him. took lots of picture. it was fun really.
when i took picture with saf team, had no idea abt andrew hall (i mean how he looks like) so he was taking all the pic with my camera.
of course u can get real close with them.In st kitts, west indies, most people dont care abt cricketer and they dont know most players name even.so players dont get much attention
netherland captain j smits spend lots of time with us.
we felt lucky.
i am not kidding

1) No Idea. My assumption the answer is No. Because of security issue.
2) Definitely sitting in one bowling end. Full game can be watched very clearly.
3) Please ask our team members "Why sometimes they forget that they are the members of a Test Team"?

Asaad, sitting around the squarish area is a big NO NO.
Try get a sit near the bowling ends.
Thats the best view of the house.

Cook some KaalZeera rice with Zafran and curry with extra chilli and fill up some lunch boxes.Spread some extra Rose water in top of the rice.
Pretend that you are the delivery man of that famous curry house. Send a message to the team before lunch that you just flew from Engalnd via a chartered jet and you are supposed to deliver the food to the team at the order of Lipu. Also mention that this time you are going to serve personally so that everybody gets equal share.
They will give you immedaite access to their locker room.

Must be a great experience that you would cherish for a long time.
Dear Asaad,
Take it from above. Sit close to players dressing area. If not then few degrees (30) either side of the bowling area. Otherwise umpires will stand right infront and block your view. Square of the wickets is a no-no as Rabz mentioned. Hotel is good place to get hold of them. I know you would have whole lot to speak to Rubel and Shahadat. Make sure you ask them can they bowl yorkers? Or how to close out an innings or do they ever watch others play like Malinga, Gul, McGrath?
Try to size up everyone. Physical fitness wise.

You should sit by the shortest boundary. You might even get the chance of a catch from the stand the way the bangladesh players try to blast every ball.

definitely will try to size up the players physically...if i get to them of course.
i am only staying on the island for 12 hours, so immediately after the game is my best and only bet. thanks for the suggestions.

Asaad bhai, try to sit in the gallery and not the VIP or anything like that. When I went to BD last summer, I sat in the VIP and the atmosphere of that section was very dissapointing. There was no excitement or jumping up and down or anything like that. It looked like most of the fun was occurring in the gallery. Since it is your first time going to a match, have some fun!!!! Since its in the West Indies, I am sure you will have a TON of fun at the stadium.

1) bowling ends at a slight angle
2) get their early and if you are close to player's gallery, you can strike up convo
3) ask the batsman exactly what kind of game plans they draw up before going out ... I want technical details

fly winair--its cheaper
yes u can get ticket at the gate, if not bassetiere has ticket selling place, which is not far from stadium.
hey let me give u a another option. decision is urs--its not the legal way... u can buy ticket from security (i mean black ticket),,, its real ticket, u can get ticket much cheaper price, last time 90 dollar ticket for world cup, we get for 20 dollar. so u can think abt this option

this is in respect to mirpur stadium
there is a place in the VIP grandstand wher u can sit just over the bangladesh dressing room. when a player is going in or out from the grandstand u can call his name and he will look at you. if he gives u time u can have at least one or two sentence like once i asked junaed "ajke chance pao nai", he said "next match, inshallah". another time i asked rajjak "bowling ke open korbe", he said "ami r koushik"
also i asked ashraful "toss e jitle kee niben" and he did not talk
well the best would be to get a seat near the dressing room or some place where u can attract a player. then i think if u can talk with him someway he will make ur access. also try to see which hotel they are staying.

winair doesn't seem to fly to st kitts...it seems a more dutch airline, and only flys to saba, eustacius, st barts, etc.
i'll check again, but my ticket is booked...

introduce yourself as, 'hi I am al-furqaan, cricket-guru, banglacricket.com, and are you ashraful??'....
jokes aside, i think you should be able to go meet the players, given that how all the probashis has a photo taken with a national team player and ppl here in BD cant find them other than in TV....

For every duck you score:
