What has the past 9 years brought us?
Today marks the 9th anniversary of ICC sanctioning Bangladesh as a Test playing nation. Have we lost our way? Will we be celebrating this date next year?
Have your say....

Only thing holding back is patience. This is a direct affect of the ura dhura format introduced to the cricketing world. Our players are as skillful as some of the top nations. WI, NZ, Eng. Our infra structure are stronger. Picnic events are becoming serious cricketing events.
For those who would argue on better domestic cricket here is a thought. Did you know how Clive Loyld, Sobers played their domestic cricket? I thought so.

I think its a mixed bag. There have been highs and lows but the problem is that there has not been any consistancy. We are only 9 yrs old in the test arena but our current team is really about 18 months old with changes to come in the near future as well.
Until Jan 09 we had established ourselves firmly as in between 'much better than the associates and ZIM' and 'knocking on the door of the traditional eight'. But with two home defeats to ZIM and a WC loss to IRE, we are now again in the prove ourselves above the associate phase. Its going to take results in WI (not respectable losses) to first undo the damage of those three losses.
A successive showing in ZIM (has to be 4-1 or 5-0) and I think we can be back to where we were after the SL test.

patience is the key thing as TE has said.
problem is how to make it happen asides from the sporadic show, like when we scored 413 in the 4th innings against murali and company on a 5th day subcontinent pitch.

We can spend hours talking about what we haven't got. But it has brought us a lot indeed: It is because of this day, today we have
1. A better infrastructure
2. Wider popularity of the game accross the nation
3. Technically Better cricketers
4. Commercial Benefits
5. Larger fan base (BC exists because of it )
Results:
1. We have beaten almost all the test playing nations in ODIs
2. We are competing on a regular basis in tests.
We just need patience for getting victories on a regular basis. We ofcourse will celebrate the day a year from now and hope we keep adding a few more feathures in our plume every year. Cheers to all on this great day of our cricketing history.

The main problem is, we do not know what the solution is and time is running out fast.

We have gained a lot and also we could have gained a lot lot more.
Bangladesh team has improved in every aspect in those last 9 years. But the improvement rate is too slow than expected. We used to aim for a "half century from a batsman" or "decent matches" in those early days. But we can confidently aim for a win in ODI. Our cricket is established now throughout the country, though weak but we have a infrastructure which is producing young players, though very slow but we are gaining experience as a cricketing nation and this institutional eaperience is flowing to the next generation.
The main drawback is that we have not yet established ourselves as a force in Test Cricket. Still no other test teams really care about us as a team in longer version. It is just because we have not won test matches like we have won some ODIs. It's high time to have a Test win this year before we celebrate our 10th year in test cricket. Otherwise there will have no answer to the question "what are Bangladesh's achievement after 10 years of Test status?" We need result, that is win, good performances not gonna help the cause.

Insha-Allah, we will add them this year.
Rubu Bhai, we are saying this time is running out for quiet sometime, including myself. But now I feel that this attitude is counterproductive. We really don't know how much time we have. So with this time is running out attitude, we rathar take impatient decisions like shuffling players toomuch, ignoring longterm infrastructural investments etc in order to get a quick result. So we might have some moments but we don't have the ability to sustain that moment.
Instead I think, if BCB adopts more systematic development process without being pressed for time, our development could be much more sustainable. As fans we always will want result and will get a bit impatient if we don't have victories; but I just hope that BCB takes more interest in infrastructure, very less shuffling of the players, high performance camps, focussed corrective actions & high performance camps etc focussing a longer time frame. Over all try and build a good cricketing culture all over the country. We will see the difference soon.

why blame BCB now for failing to keep older players when fans constantly demanded fresh blood throughout these 10 years?
why blame selectors for dropping players after a string of poor performances because the standards of International Cricket is high?
the selectors do their best to select a team for the interests of fans, bottomline, our players fail to withstand the tough challenge of international cricket, occasionally our brave attitude does triumpheth, but not satisfactory enough...
it is just that one single mistake has a huge impact and chain reaction and 'cause and effect...and the thing with Bangladeshi public is that we love to pinpoint fingers before looking at own self!(just a generalized comment)..and then we have debates in BC whether that "mistake" was even a mistake at all or should a different approach have been taken?
despite not winning a single test against G8, despite losing consistently, i still see hope and potential in our cricket, that day is not far when Bangladesh will consistently beat G8 nations in ODI..that day is not far...we are one step closer to finding that elusive "perfect 11" isn't it unreasonable to wish for whitewash against teams who already found their perfect 11?

It has brought us BanglaCricket, the best thing to happen out of "test eshtatestus"
Noh, seriously.
It has also given us Al Shariar Rokon, Tushar Imran and Mohd Ashraful.
