লুঙ্গি মার্চে পুলিশের বাধা




রাজধানীর বারিধারা এলাকায় লুঙ্গি পরে চলাচল নিষিদ্ধের প্রতিবাদে ডাকা লুঙ্গি মার্চ আটকে দিয়েছে বনানী থানা পুলিশ।

বনানী খেলার মাঠ থেকে বারিধারা অভিমুখে লুঙ্গি পরে মার্চ করে যাওয়ার কথা থাকলেও সেখান থেকে তাদের সংঘবদ্ধ হয়ে বের হতে বাধা দেয় পুলিশ।

বারিধারায় লুঙ্গি পরে চলাচলে নিষেধ করায় এর বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদের ঘোষণা দেয় রাজধানীর বারিধারা, গুলশান বনানীসহ রাজধানীর বিভিন্ন অভিজাত এলাকার তরুণ-তরুণীরা।


বারিধারা এলাকার বাসিন্দাদের সামাজিক সংগঠন বারিধারা সোসাইটির পক্ষ থেকে সেখানে এই নিয়ম জারি করা হয়েছে।

পরে পুলিশ লুঙ্গি মার্চে অংশ নেয়া লোকদের যার যার মতো মাঠ ত্যাগের অনুরোধ জানিয়ে ছেড়ে দেয়। তারা সেখান থেকে বের হয়ে আবার একসঙ্গে বারিধারার দিকে যেতে চাইলে বনানী মাঠের অদূরে বারিধারার দিকে যাওয়ার রাস্তায় ব্যারিকেড দিয়ে আটকে দেয় পুলিশ। সেখানে পৌঁছে তারা ‘লুঙ্গি’ ‘লুঙ্গি’ বলে স্লোগান দিতে থাকেন।

এ সময় বারিধারার বাসিন্দা রুবাইয়া আহমাদ পুলিশের কাছে দাবি করেন, এরা সবাই আমার বাসায় যাবে, এরা আমার মেহমান। তাদের বাধা দেয়ার কোনো দরকার নেই। সে সময় রুবাইয়া আহমাদ ও পুলিশের মধ্যে বাক-বিতণ্ডা হয়।

রুবাইয়া আহমাদ প্রাণীপ্রেমীদের সংগঠন অভয়ারণ্য’র প্রধান নির্বাহী।

পুলিশ সেখানে তাদের প্রায় এক ঘণ্টা আটকে রাখে। এরপর থেকে তরুণ-তরুণীদের সংখ্যা কমতে থাকে। এদের মধ্য থেকে ৯ জনকে আটক করে পুলিশ, পরে ছেড়ে দেয়।

বনানী থানার ওসি কাজী মইনুল ইসলাম বলেন, এ ধরনের জমায়েতের জন্য আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীর পূর্বানুমতির প্রয়োজন। যেহেতু তাদের পক্ষ থেকে অনুমতি নেয়া হয়নি। এজন্য তাদের কর্মসূচি পালনে সহায়তা করা পুলিশের পক্ষে সম্ভব নয়।

উল্লেখ্য, ‘মজা লস?’ নামের একটি ফেসবুক পাতার সংগঠক ও ভক্তরা বারিধারার ওই এলাকায় লুঙ্গি নিষিদ্ধের সিদ্ধান্তের প্রতিবাদে কয়েকদিন আগে এই লুঙ্গি মার্চের কর্মসূচি দেয়। এতে যোগ দেয়ার ঘোষণা দেয় ‘বিডি সাইক্লিং’ নামের ঢাকার সাইকেল একটি আরোহীদের সংগঠন।

বনানী মাঠে বারিধারায় সবাই লুঙ্গি পরে কেউ পদব্রজে আবার অনেকেই সাইকেলে চড়ে মার্চে অংশ নিতে হাজির হয়। বিডি সাইক্লিং এর প্রায় শতাধিক সাইকেল আরোহী লুঙ্গি মার্চে অংশ নিতে আসে।


সামাজিক সংগঠন ‘ভলেন্টিয়ার ফর বাংলাদেশ’র সভাপতি করভী রাখসান্দ বলেন, রিক্সাওয়ালাদের ৩০০ টাকা দিয়ে ট্রাউজার কিনতে বাধ্য করা হয়েছে। যারা দিন আনে দিন খায় তাদের ওপর এমন সিদ্ধান্ত নির্যাতন ছাড়া কিছুই নয়।

করভী রাখসান্দের সংগঠনরে পক্ষ থেকে আসা তরুণ-তরুণীরা সবাই হলুদ লুঙ্গি পরে ও হলুদ উত্তরীয় গায়ে চড়ানো অবস্থায় ছিল।

বারিধারার বাসিন্দা জার্মান নাগরিক সুমাইয়া আয়ার লুঙ্গি নিষিদ্ধের সিদ্ধান্তের প্রতিবাদ জানিয়ে বলেন, এটা অত্যন্ত আরামদায়ক পোশাক, এর বিরুদ্ধে অবস্থান নেয়ার কোনো যুক্তি নেই।

রাজধানীর অভিজাত এলাকা গুলশান থেকে আসা নাফিসা লুঙ্গি মার্চে অংশ নিতে সেখানে হাজির হন। তার ভাষ্যমতে, লুঙ্গি নিষিদ্ধ করে বাংলাদেশে স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধকে অবমাননা করা হচ্ছে। যেহেতু ১৯৭১ সালে মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা লুঙ্গি পরে যুদ্ধে নেমেছিলেন।

ডাউন টাউন রাইডারর্স’র পক্ষ থেকে রাজধানীর খিলগাও থেকে আসা সফটওয়্যার ইঞ্জিনিয়ার আসিফ ইসলাম বলেন, বাংলাদেশের মাটিতে এই ধরনের সিদ্ধান্ত খুবই দুঃখজনক।

লুঙ্গি মার্চে অংশ নেয়া ইমরান হোসাইন ইমন লুঙ্গিকে জাতীয় পোশাকের মর্যাদা দেয়ার দাবি তোলেন। তিনি যুক্তি দেখান এতে সহজে বাতাস প্রবেশ করে, এটি পড়তে আরাম এবং চলাফেরায় ঝামেলাহীন।
