Please Lend Your Hands for Late Manzarul Islam Rana's Father
Kazi Monirul Islam, the proud father of late national team player Kazi Manzarul Islam Rana, has been suffering from prostrate cancer since early 2007. He had an operation just after the detection of the deathly disease which was not enough to recover him from the disease. Since then regular treatment has been given to him by the guidance of the doctors of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India.
His condition became worse day by day. Doctors decided to start chemo therapy during the last month. After a few dozes of chemo therapy his condition degraded. He had to be admitted in the ICU, Lab Aid on the 24th July, 2009 due to a possible renal failure and cardiac failure. He is currently in bed 5, ICU, Lab Aid Specialized Hospital. His condition didn't improve yet.
As the treatment of cancer is very much expensive, a lot of money has already been expended. Their family is a mediocre family in terms of financial status. The elder brother of Manzarul Islam Rana is the only working member of the family who works for the National Bank. The overall financial condition of the family is horrible now. BCB helped them in few occasions in the past. Yet due to huge expenditure of the treatment they are completely running out of money now.
I had the chance to personally know this wonderful family because of Rana's elder brother Mazhar who was my class mate in the university life and also a very good friend. The who family is very nice and religious.
Please lend your hand for the proud father of our forever lost national team player Rana and pray for him. Your little contribution may save a life inshallah.

1. How much money are we talking about?
2. How fast?
3. Who do we contact if we want to contribute?

We collected money through BC in past and had Ahmed bhai or some other BC admin hand over the money, right? Can we do something like that again?

1. No definite amount. As the expenditure of treatment is very high, they will require a big amount of money. If we can contribute even a little portion it will be a good help.
2. As fast as possible.
3. You can contact directly with Mazhar, Rana's elder brother. I can give you the cell no of Mazhar by PM if you want.
Actually Mazhar didn't want to take money this way in the past. I talked with him about this and he denied it earlier. But now they really have no option left.

I think Ehsen proposed a good way. Our super moderator Ahmed bhai, who is in Dhaka, can communicate with their family for handing over the fund.

But who will collect the money here. Last time Tehsin Bhai collected via Paypal method during SIDR . Unfortunately they were charging about $4 or something for each $50 dollar. Which no one liked here after all they all add up.

As far as I know if you pay via credit card then around 3% will be charged for credit card transaction fee. But if you pay from a bank account which is attached to your paypal account then the whole money should be credited to the beneficiary account (I am talking about US bank account to US pay pal account transfer). I am not 100% sure about it though.

I am with you for this divine cause. I would like to contribute as well. Please let us know how to contribute. It would be better if the collection could be organized through a single source then delivered to the family. Our prayers and best wishes for Rana's father. May Almighty Allah be with us.

Anybody with the experience of sending money back home via bank or other legal means, your advice would be great.

Not sure what exactly you mean by 'experience of sending money back home'. I shall be in Dhaka next week [for a week], I can contribute a little if someone is there to make contact with me [it will be helpful]. Wish all the best for our uncle.

What I meant was some of us might be sending money back home to family/parents regularly or at times. If anyone does so, they might be able to advice us about a good way to send money back to Bangladesh, without spending too much on fees/charges etc.

Yes, I use them too. But the issue is someone should gather the money here in US and then send it in one time. That way everyone is not paying the $6 charge (below $500).
May Allah cure him.
