Default Riyad bowls Doosra

I just saw it, the grip and turn and everything convinced me.

I hope he practices it and it becomes a good weapon.

dont mean a thing, he cant even bowl his conventional stock delivery properly so what good is it bowling a doosra amongst wayward deliveries

doosra is necessary especially for off-spinners, their bowling gets too predictable. Especially for Riyad because he cant vary the pace and trajectory of the deliveries as much as Shakib can, so doosra is a great weapon to master. I hope he can control it and use it more often.

He needs to improve as a bowler. His current stats are not satisfactory at all.

Doosra is basically a delivery from an offspinner that turns opposite direction a conventional offbreak does. As far I know, there is no standard method of throwing a doosra. Murali, Saqlain, Harbhajan, etc each got their own style of doosra.

the one that truns the other way is the Wrong'un. if im not mistaken..the doosra is the one that turns the opposite dierection, ( face it..it has to be oppositie..it can spin only 2 ways if not going straight) but ur action is that off an offspinner, ur arm n wrist position dont change to a legspinners action.

n i think its for these complications som may see it as illeal delivery cos its not posible (hence australia coaches not coaching it...not that they know how anyway)

i cud be wrong who knows. but yes..everyone has their own method...well not everyone- whoever has the ability to bowl it

Wrong'un, I believe, is an Aussie term for googly, but that's a legspinner delivery.

I heard claims offies back in the time used to bowl floaters that were very similar to doosra. Well, who knows.

you are correct, the wrong'un is just another name for the googly.

as for the floater, had never heard of it until you just mentioned it but this is it's definition as per wikipedia: "a delivery bowled by a spinner that travels in a highly arched path appearing to 'float' in the air."

This is what I found from another forum on floater -

Quote:
Erapalli Prasanna was a master bowling this delivery and I still remember he tormented the kiwis in a series down under with this particualr delivery. Also I do remember how he fooled Viv Richards once & got him stumped by dragging him out making the ball turn the other way. This is called a FLOATER.Its bowled with the same action but the grip is a bit different with the spin imparted vertically down rather than across. Also the shine of the ball is kept on the left(for a right arm offie) 2 make it float after pitching.U can term this delivery as UNDERCUTTER also which stops & then spins the other way. After Pras I never saw any bwlr either in intrnl level or club level mster this delivery. Then came Saqi & Murli who r real masters of this delivery.Murli's delivery is more dangerous. Now u get 2 see a lot of these bwlrs bowling the floater.

http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?showtopic=8607
I am not sure if Murali or Saqi use the technique he described here, but I once saw Enamul Jr throwing a somewhat similar delivery to spin the ball other way SLAs generally turn.
