Default A Refresher

I guess it's that time of the year again - everyone is caught with cricket fever but we don't have any hot topic to discuss before next series starts. I see some members are trying to create typhoon in tea cup with different topics. So, here is my contribution in the effort - a refresher of memory what a fine batsman Alok Kapali can be on his day

*This is not a bring back Kapali thread, this just meant to aggravate Kapali haters a little

Asia Cup 2008: Bangladesh vs India

Alok Kapali 100 (60 Balls) ICL T20 2008

I thought we lost that game. I don't know how that is a refresher? A player's performance is more important to you guys than the team's result?

for your purpose of posting the video, wouldn't it be more appropriate to post the match verses Kenya where Kapali had a 50 (regardless of the quality of the opponent bowling. but then again, isn't all his 50+ innings are against crappy bowlings? regardless)?

Well Doc, the reason I mentioned the Kenya innings is that as far as I can remember, that is the only time he had a contribution (or a significant contribution) toward a win of ours.

After Tokai, there is still Rayme, thebest, Miraz and a few more of us. They are never gonna get us of all

Soon enough, this thread will resemble the following...

And then, when Kapali scores another ODI hundred...

I, too, jest.

Rubu, will be kind enough to find that video and post it here? That was not a bad performance from Kapali either

I'm not a fan of Kapali but that was a great innings played by a Bangladeshi. Because of that innings we got our highest ODI total against a top 8 team.

It wasn't his fault that BD lost the game. Our bowlers specially Mash and Rajib bowled really crap in that game. Otherwise it would have been a great win for us.

I think credits should be given where its due.

That was Raqibul the Past. The Raqibul we have now is afraid to play his own shots that he can play so nicely. I wonder if we will get our old Raqib back soon.

I think Raqib's story is same as those of many other Bangladeshi batsmen. He came with a bang, played few good innings, but soon opposition found out his weakness, and he started to struggle. But, I am confident, Raqib is a hard worker, he will come through good eventually.

Raqibul will be back..disappointing stuff from him in the ODI's but everyone goes through bad patches..on top of that he is a very hard worker and still is one of the best batsmen we have on the team.

Miraz bhai, it will be foolish trying to refute that Kapali is very inconsistent as a batsman. But at the same time, it will be foolish trying to refute that Kapali knows how to play his shots.

His innings against India is easily the best stroke play against spinners I have seen from a Bangladeshi batsman.

I was never a fan of Alok Kapali, but after watching him playing in ICL, I realize how great player he was. It was fascinating to watch him playing in every game. If he is invited to play in BD team, I am sure he will do magnificient, only if he is allowed to play his natural game instead of being dictated which shot to play and which shot not to play and how to play. If you try to mould too much, any player will loose his natural ability that he has worked for his whole life, and degrade his ability.
