Default Former Bangladesh Coaches

Feeling little nostalgic, so I decided to look up our former coaches - who is doing what now.

Shaun Williams: Coaching Maharashtra team

Dav Whatmore: Head coach in Indian National Cricket Academy (rumor is that he is in consideration for KKR)

Mohsin Kamal: Coaching Bahrain team

Ali Zia: One of the coaches in Pakistan Cricket Academy

Trevor Chappell: Coaching Singapore team

Gordon Greenidge: Getting ready to play for Lashing XI (an exhibition side in England) alongside Wasim Akram and few other retired cricketers

Richard McInnes: Coaching Australia Women's team

Allister De Winter: Assistant coach for Tasmania

No idea what Mohinder Amarnath is up to

good effort. I guess, Bangladesh team progressed a lot compare to its former coaches. I wont be amazed if Dav Whatmore rejoin Bangladesh once again in near future.

I believe I last read abiut MA being a consultant for the Bengal state team. I may be mistaken. And, of course, beloved Barlowe is watching over us. If I had my druthers I would still like to get McInnes.

Barlow would have been the best for a young team, if he could stay on.

Not sure if he still works for Bengal though!

Three best coaches we ever had
1) Late Mr Eddie Barlow
2) Richard Mcinnes
3) Dav Whatmore

Worst coach we ever had (1 being the worst)
1) Trevor Chappel
2) Mohsin Kamal
3) Shaun Williams (although he was more like an assistant coach just doing the duty temporarily)

Are these our national team coaches you are talking about? Then I would replace Observer. I don't think he ever took that responsibility.

I'd replace him GG.

Good thread by the way.

What is Sarwar Imran upto? I think he's arguably a well-qualified national coach... no?

Sarwar Imran's probably one of the better local coaches. Do assistant coaches count? If so, we have Khaled Mahmud who still has a point to prove. Even Minhajul Abedin seems to be doing OK with the U-19 team (again, I understand the focus is only on national team coaches, so he probably doesn't count).

Salauddin deserves a mention, if we're including specialist coaches. He has done a pretty good job with the fielders over the years, although the fielding has been pretty shabby in recent times.

Mcinnes never worked with the national team but he still coached in Bangladesh. I do not know wats the yardstick. The best among local coaches I think is _______ (forgot his name, he coached Ashraful)

Sarwar imran is a good bowling coach but not a great tactician from wat i heard. I never understood the fuss about Sujon to be honest. He was never a good batsmen or a good bowler and his captaincy wasnt anything significant either. But somehow he still manages to get a lot of respect from the cricket board.

Mohinder Amarnath I think is the most underrated coach, he almost took us to the world cup with a rag tag team. That defeat against Kenya still haunts me...

Care to explain why he is the worst coach we ever had?

He did a great job with the Academy and A-team.

He also did alright when coached the National team for 2/3 months. BD went to 2nd round in T20 WC under him.

I like the younger Chappels but the big one, oh no!
SW was alright. Difficult to improve stubborn players without brains.

You forgot Mudsssar Nazar,, who was probably the first Foreign Coach we had. He was the coach during the ICC days and did push us to the finals. He also coached Pakistan national team. Of Course it was Gordon who finally delivered for us. And Eddie Barlow,, who died not too long ago. He was a really passionate coach who couldve been the best we had..

Dav Watmore is not demoted... He wanted to go to India and he is now one who discovered the talents of Ishant Sharma and the new players. He is playing a key role in the Indian Selection and no doubt have a demanding job.

Others, you can argue whether its a demotion or promotion but coaching Bangladesh team is not really as prestegious as we would think of it to be... I mean how many of us remember who were the coaches of Zimbabwe or Kenya? To outsiders, we are no better than Zimbabwe or the 9th ranked team.
