sakib ranking :countdown tonumber 1
Should be "Shakib's ranking: Count down to number one"
Once he gets there do you plan to open another thread on that or this will be the thread where you will post?

That's pretty incredible. I wonder if he'll get a contract from the IPL this time around. I wouldn't bet on it knowing the stupidity of IPL Teams management.

Though Shakib's recent climb to the # 2 position at the bowler's table is by virtue of him playing some weak team but overall he has done a tremendous job in keeping up his #1 all rounder position for a while. We, BD team, are usually pretty safe from those criticisms where critics are very harsh against players or teams who play weaker oppositions all the time and boost their records (such as the criticism of Sri Lanka and Murali playing against us and Zim a lot more than others).....Shakib on the hand had no such luck and played always under pressure.....good going boy....keep it up.

Though it would be financially very rewarding for Shakib but why all good performances should be rewarded by and are measured against an IPL contract? we need to get rid off this mindset.

Can we have a count down to when there will not be a new thread regarding shakib's ranking every 5 minutes?

it would be nice to see the all time highest points by the different all rounders and ODI bowlers so we can compare Shakib's points to those.
If its admirable/comparable against those, that would be truly amazing.

Shakib getting picked by IPL would be damaging to his progress, it would also be damaging to Bangladesh cricket. I hope his name is not on that list. For more than two months IPL took our former captain and vice captain to warm their benches. It's not good for the confidence level of our star players, and definitely not good for our national team.

In ODI allrounders list, only Kallis and Flintoff scoered above 500 points. Shakib is clearly better then all other ODI allrounders, but he's a long way to go before becoming a Kallis. I think in 5-7 years time, Shakib will be a leading player of the cricket world. Hopefully his name will be spoken in the same breath as Kapil or Kallis.

Sorry, but, wrong info there, buddy. Shakib climbed to #2 by taking regular wickets against world's top sides. Please check your records.

ODIs Alrounders:
Just from the table we can see Flintoff had 544 and Jack Kallis had 505.
Imran 480 #1
Hadlee 471 #1
Botham 469 #1
Sobers undoubtedly would have the highest. His Test alrounder ranking was 669.
Bowling wise Murali had 913.
Warne 786.

If Shak can cross 460 in the allrounder and 750 in the bowling list, I'm sold on him as a bonafide cricket star, not just a Bangladeshi star.

from us YES. But how much attention do you give to Niall O'Brian or any other 'best produced' players from Kenya or Zimbabwe?

If Neil O'brien tops the ICC charts, then I'd give him plenty of attention. If topping a chart were so easy, every Riddle-Richards-Potter would have done so.

No, Sir. Do you know that rankings are done by taking account of the opposition a playing against? So had Shakib played all the recent matches against better sides and performed the same, he would have crossed Kulasekara too. It's just bcoz he played weaker teams, he is still #2. Take it this way.

so if you were a franchise owner and had all the money to spend you would go after kalushekara and Mills as your top bowlers?

How about, instead of concentrating on individual performances, we hope to say
Sakib, by leading from the front, has led his team to Number One.
