In other news Ash won;t be featuring in IPL-3 as his contract has been bought out by Mumbai. So he gets $300,000 for playing only one T20 match.

DC charger needs a good spinning allrounder. They have good pace attack featuring with Kamran and Amit(if IPL permits these chuckers to play), Morkel

IPL auction 2010:
Quote:
From The Sports Campus,
Deccan Chargers:
Coming to the title holders, the Deccan Chargers, one clear area that needs redressal is the spin department. Young Pragyan Ojha is currently the only one shouldering that responsibility, which is increasingly gaining importance, and owners Deccan Chronicle may want to add a slow bowler of international distinction to their arsenal. They just released Afridi, so he's not an option, and hence, in light of his recent exploits in the England-South Africa test series, Graeme Swann might just be the one to get the coveted cash-rich contract. Other options are Saeed Ajmal, Jason Krezja, Nathan McCullum and the world's best ODI allrounder Shakib Al Hasan.
Also, Deccan's batting order possesses just the lone lefthander in skipper Adam Gilchrist, so they might want to add diversity to the lineup by picking one from Phillip Hughes, Thilina Kandamby, Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan, etc.
Shakib fitting in on both fronts might just give the stand-in Bangladeshi skipper the edge.
|
Quote:
From Cricinfo,
Shakib Al Hasan
Eyebrows were raised when he didn't land a contract last season but, after a year of relentlessly collecting runs and wickets, he should feature in this edition of the IPL. His left-arm spin has improved tremendously over the years, and he is now the batting mainstay for his country. Plus, he is Bangladesh cricket's biggest star at the moment, which means signing up Shakib will provide his franchise access to a massive fanbase.

I think around $250,000-$300,000 would be reasonable for him. In any case franchises can't spend more than $750,000 in this auction so there won't be many surprises. Mash's price last time around was just ridiculous, it put too much unnecessary pressure on him. I think the franchises may avoid Pakistani players as you never know when there is another bomb blast and their players get banned by the Indian government. Afridi, U Akmal, Aamer and Pollard will be the most wanted players tomorrow.

No the compensation is only $150,000. I said in total he will recieve $300,000 over two years. His contract was worth $150,000/season and it was valid for two seasons. Since Mumbai do not want him anymore they will have to buy the second year of his contract which is worth $150,000 on top of the $150,000 he should already have recieved for representing Mumbai last season. That's how I came up with the figure. There was an article in the Guardian about how Tyron Henderson will get $1.3 million from Rajasthan even though he played a couple of matches.

when you read the list that Sakib is in, he is worth a hell of a lot more than the other players.
I am sure that he will be bidded for more than $100,000 compared to the rest of mediocre players.
100,000$ Shane Bond, Mohammad Kaif, Kemar Roach, Umar Akmal, Shakib Al Hasan, Tim Bresnan, Daren Ganga, Justin Kemp, Nuwan Kulasekara, Wavell Hinds, Kamran Akmal, Phillip Hughes, Damien Martyn, Imran Nazir, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chamara Silva, Lendl Simmons, Upul Tharanga, Jonathan Trott, Sulieman Benn, Grant Elliott, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Aamer, Saeed Ajmal, Umar Gul, Misbah-ul-Haq
The best of the lot are Shane Bond, Shakib Al Hasan, Rana naved-ul-hasan, Abdul Rassaq, Mohammad AAmer and Umar Gul. Pakistan players will have a hard time, as IPL may not want them.

Shakib's captaincy and way of going was not up to the mark yesterday. He needs to figure out how to approach a test innings, specially when the conditions are hostile and you have already lost too many wickets. Also his bowling rotation and field placing was questionable. He was defensive in the field placing. One example, while Gambhir was trying to flash constantly at the out swinging deliveries outside the off stamp, Shakib should have kept 2 slips and 2 gully. He persisted with the 1 slip and 2 gully fielders without bothering it. That was poor captaincy.

yes. Shakib did some mistake. He didn't get much advice from his teammates where other captains get a lot of advice and suggestions from their senior members. That why they do less mistake. And also Shakib's age and the amount of cricket he played is another factor. If Ash has brain he would be a good choice for captain and Mash suffers too much injury. So currently we have to stick with Shakib. He is also making some decision too and he is always a thinking cricket. I hope he will learn from his mistakes like Smith and unlike Ash
