কোনও সন্দেহ নেই, কাগজ- কলমে দিল্লির থেকে এগিয়েই আজ ইডেনে নামবে কলকাতা নাইট রাইডার্স। আইপিএল ফাইভটা নিশ্চয়ই নতুন করে শুরু করতে চাইবে কলকাতা। একই সঙ্গে টিমের সঙ্গে জড়িত সবাই আশা করবে, এ বারের আইপিএলটা অন্তত প্রচুর আনন্দের মুহূর্ত নিয়ে আসবে সবার জন্য। ওদের জন্য আমার শুভেচ্ছা রইল।
টুর্নামেন্টে সেরা হওয়ার মশলা আছে কলকাতার। তিন বছর ধরে যে ড্রেসিংরুমটার অংশ ছিল ব্রেন্ডন ম্যাকালাম, সেখানে ফিরতে পেরে ও নিশ্চয়ই এখন খুব খুশি। শুধু তো টিমের অংশ থাকাই নয়, ব্রেন্ডন তো এক বার কেকেআরের অধিনায়কও ছিল। ব্রেন্ডন ওপেন করা মানে প্রতি ম্যাচেই শুরুতে একটা ঝড় আশা করতে পারে কেকেআর। পাঁচ বছর আগে বেঙ্গালুরুর বিরুদ্ধে ওর ওই ব্যাটিং তাণ্ডবটা কেকেআর সমর্থক বা আইপিএল ভক্তদের পক্ষে কখনওই ভোলা সম্ভব নয়। ব্রেন্ডন এখন অনেকটা পরিণত হয়েছে। ও নিশ্চয়ই নতুন কেকেআরের সঙ্গে নতুন ভাবে আইপিএলটা শুরু করতে চাইবে।
আলোচনা: নাইটদের প্র্যাক্টিসে গম্ভীর-ম্যাকালামের সঙ্গে কোচ বেইলস। ইডেনে।
ব্রেন্ডন দলে আসা মানে কালিস আর গৌতম অনেকটা চাপমুক্ত অবস্থায় ব্যাট করতে পারবে। টিমকেও পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী একটা নির্দিষ্ট লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছে দিতে পারবে। শুরুতে ব্রেন্ডন, মাঝে ইউসুফ পাঠান কেকেআরের ব্যাটিংয়ে গোলা- বারুদের অভাব নেই। কালিস আর গৌতমও সম্প্রতি দেখিয়েছে ওরা দুর্দান্ত ছন্দে আছে। এর সঙ্গে যোগ করুন মনোজ তিওয়ারি আর এ মরসুমে সেরা ফর্মে থাকা, পরের দিকে ঝড় তুলতে পারা ব্যাটসম্যান লক্ষ্মীরতন শুক্লকে। এই ব্যাটিং লাইন আপকে চাপে ফেলতে হলে দিল্লিকে কিন্তু খুব ভাল বোলিং করতে হবে।
মনোজের উচিত হবে এই আইপিএল মঞ্চটাকে ব্যবহার করে নিজেকে আবার তুলে ধরা। ভারতের এক দিনের দলের মিডল অর্ডারে জায়গা পাওয়ার জন্য লড়াই করছে ও। ভারতের হয়ে শেষ যে ম্যাচটা ও খেলেছিল, তাতে মনোজের সেঞ্চুরি রয়েছে। কিন্তু তাতেও ওকে বাইরে বসতে হচ্ছে। ফলে এখানে যে সুযোগটা আসবে, সেটাই ওকে কাজে লাগাতে হবে।
আর এক জন ক্রিকেটারও কিন্তু কেকেআরের কাছে বিরাট বোনাস হতে যাচ্ছে। সাকিব আল হাসান। ব্যাটিং, বোলিং বা ফিল্ডিংয়ে বাংলাদেশের এই অলরাউন্ডারের মতো ইউটিলিটি ক্রিকেটার খুব কমই আছে বিশ্বে। ইয়ন মর্গ্যান বা টেন দুশখাতেকে খেলানোর জন্য সাকিবকে বাইরে রাখাটা কিন্তু কঠিন হবে কেকেআরের পক্ষে।
কেকেআরের বোলিংকে নেতৃত্ব দেবে ব্রেট লি। টিমের এই বিভাগটা কিন্তু ব্যাটিংয়ের তুলনায় একটু কমজোরি। বালাজি, ইকবাল আবদুল্লাহ, উনাদকাট, রজত ভাটিয়া, লক্ষ্মী, সাকিবদেরই বোলিংয়ে যা কিছু বৈচিত্র আনতে হবে।
দিল্লি প্রথম দিকে পিটারসেন, মাহেলা, ওয়ার্নারকে কিছু ম্যাচের জন্য পাবে না। এমনকী রস টেলরও একশো ভাগ সুস্থ নয়। তাই আন্দ্রে রাসেল বা ডাগ ব্রেসওয়েল টুর্নামেন্টের প্রথম দিকে কতটা কী করতে পারে, সেটা খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে দাঁড়াবে দিল্লির কাছে।
দিল্লি বোলিংয়ে উমেশ যাদব, ইরফান পাঠানের সঙ্গে আগরকর, মর্নি মর্কেলের মতো সিনিয়ররা আছে। কিন্তু ভাল এক জন স্পিনারের অভাব ওরা টের পাবেই। দিল্লির কাছে ফর্মুলা একটাই। বীরেন্দ্র সহবাগকে নিজের খেলাটা খেলতে হবে। নিজের ব্যাটিং দিয়েই দুটো টিমের মধ্যে ফারাক গড়ে দিতে হবে সহবাগকে। আশা করব এই আইপিএলে আমরা সহবাগের আসল খেলাটা দেখতে পাব। কেকেআরকে ঘিরে দুটো ব্যাপার নিয়ে খুব আগ্রহ থাকবে। এক নম্বর, ইডেন গার্ডেন্সের উইকেট কেমন আচরণ করে। গত বছর কিন্তু ইডেনের উইকেটটা আদর্শ টি-টোয়েন্টির উইকেট ছিল না। বল নিচুু হয়েছিল, উইকেটে পড়ে স্লো হয়েছিল। এই ধরনের উইকেটে টি-টোয়েন্টি ক্রিকেট খেলে মজা নেই। দু’নম্বর, গৌতম গম্ভীরের অধিনায়কত্ব। কিছু দিন আগেই ও জাতীয় দলের সহ-অধিনায়কত্ব হারিয়েছে। গৌতম তাই গোটা দুনিয়াকে দেখিয়ে দিতে চাইবে, ওকে উপেক্ষা করাটা কিন্তু ঠিক হয়নি।

I have nothing to worry.... even if Naraine/Morgan/RTD get picked, they'll not do well and will get dropped from the next match...and when Shakib gets the chance..he just has to show why he is the no. 1 all-rounder... and i know he will do that...

But why do we care so much whether they pick Shakib or not.. they will do whatever they think will be best for their team... no room for emotions here.. I personally think if KKR doesn't pick Shakib it will be their loss as they will miss out on Shak's excellent service in all 3 dept ..

Shakib has nothing to prove to anyone.. He just needs to play his best game in whatever limited opportunities he gets !!

For now morgan is out of form so he is out already.
KKR never used RTD in their first XI so chance of his playing this game is low..
SHAK is in form and so is Naraine, its really hard to choose in between them. they r paying 800 K for naraine and they want to utilise him.
So it will depend on their strategy. If they need an extra batsman they will pick Shak but if they need a extra bowler they will pick Naraine. Initially KKR will think they have enough batsman already, so they will go for naraine. To be honest Shak is struggling with his bowling a bit. Naraine is doing good and it also give kkr a varietion in their bowling lineup as he is an offie. KKR already got a decent left arm spinner abdullah who is good enough for IPL. So i guess they will drop shakib on the first game. Shakib will be back only if some Naraine or kallis failed to make any impact... its a new coach for KKR... we have to wait and see what strategy they will take.

Guys we should let loose on the IPL stuff on their selection :

1) Shakib and Tamim will be enjoying their time in the IPL for sure, since they already established World Class Players & they will be given a fair chance in the selection(So please stop assuming who will or wil not play without knowing any first hand information)
2) It definitely benefits Shakib and Tamim in interacting with other nation players, chill out with their respective team mates and earn good money(secure their financial status as cricket is a short term career) & good time at the IPL parties(after a tough and deserved year of hard work playing for the Country)

As fun as the dhoom-dhamaka of IPL can be, I wish Shakib was turning out for a first class team in England/South Africa/Australia regularly during the BD off-season, rather than warming the bench somewhere in India. (Would you believe in all these years, Shakib has only played 3 ODIs in Australia?!)

I'm curious to see how Shakib's batting performance will be in the long form of the game abroad, now that his batting has improved.

yes i really wanted that too...in worc forum some members asked me if shakib was free before zim series this year..i said he had IPL..i am sure if shakib weren't in ipl worcs would have signed him

but we have to think about shakib too...playing in county may improve his game but ipl will give him financial security

In any case, Shakib, with all his endorsements, national contract, etc. will never have a problem with financial security.

Mot kotha holo, the IPL will not make him a legend of the game. If he, through the dint of his batting, bowling or both can win us test matches abroad against the best sides - then he will be remembered as a legend of both BD and world cricket when he retires. To do that he has to play in those conditions more!

you get paid based on the league matches..shakib has to be with the team for all the league matches to get full paid..regardless of he plays or not..thats the contract..last year shakib missed 2 matches for his mother's sickness so he missed the payout of those two matches from his 475000K

yes from his endorsements, national contract, etc he'll get all the financial security he needs but its life and you cant predict whats in store in the future..so 475000K is a huge amount of money to pass

As he is on a contract, he has a duty to carry out the terms of his contract to the best of his ability. As part of those duties, he'll have to play some games and sit out others, so that's fair enough. But that doesn't mean such a contract should be renewed indefinitely for the future.

It's my opinion that the IPL isn't the best use of his time. Unlike the local Indian players, who don't play for India or the newbie foreign players, it's not his only major source of income so the financial security argument does not fly.

At this moment in time he should be pushing the boundaries and exploring how good a player he can be. And that can only be done if he plays a string of high quality first-class and list-a matches in challenging conditions - rather than playing in a heightened, glitzier, marginally higher quality version of the BPL.

He will lose 20% (~$7000) for the games he doesn't play.

It will be ridiculous & biased if Sakib is not picked,u don't keep away a player who is the MOT of Asia cup & BPL.
