According to Banglanews24.com Shakib may skip zim tour.

He has been playing non stop cricket for so long and I think he certainly deserves this break. If rested for Zim tour, we'll get a rested and fresh Shak back for the euro tour and WC.

See, this is where I have a problem. I know its a practice tournament and what not, but he should've rested rather than playing the league games. Players need to emphasize more on playing for the country. Not play all the leagues in the world and miss out games for your country. Just my humble opinion.

It is not easy to give up league games. The clubs have spent a lot of money on them. So the owners will do everything to make sure the superstars play and squeeze the investment out of them.

Its not the same with BCB. You can formally write a letter and they will consider it. But the club owners will laugh at any such letter or request. Just look at how they made the look hostage for months coz of only one foreign player.

League is easy money. For Shak and TI, competition is not fierce and they get treated like superstars and make Tk 40-50 lakh every season. Plus, I think per BCB contract you have to participate in DPL unless you have injury or other reasons.

No he didn't know.. There was nothing scheduled in our FTP till August so he preferred to play some cricket rather than sitting idle.. At first he didn't want to play county as he wanted a break after the IPL but when he saw BCB didn't arranged anything during this time he signed up for county and said that though he wanted rest but it's better to be in cricket..

But now with Europe tour, WI tour, SLPL and T20 WC the schedule looks pretty busy so he cancelled county and asking for a break .. fair enough.. He practically didn't get a break since 2009 !!

From where did SLPL come from? Is it Sri Lanka Premier Leageue?
Shakib's in that?

I think people are ungrateful, I am not talking about BC members here talking about so many cricket fans in FB. some of them are cursing him for not playing the series. This guy deserves a break after the year around entertainment he gave us.. after all he isn't a machine..And Its not even an international tri series, its a practice one. I think shakib had enough practice. give some one else a chance.. test our bench strength..I will love to see mominul or enamul jnr instead of him.

^^ I couldn't agree more. Its just a practice tour. He had enough practice playing in IPL. He needs rest and let him have it. Try some bench strength.

By the way, I am happy that our cricket has come to a stage where we dare to rest our superstars. Back in the days, we would never think about resting Bulbul, HaBa, Mash or even Ash.

Well said. I don't have problem with Shakib resting simply because it's just a practice tour and Shak was exposed to one of the most competitive tournament very recently. He doesn't need anymore practice. He needs a break.

He is the only chicken that lays golden egg for us. Don't kill it.

Country first, club second, *PL third except if *=B!
No superstar treatment when it comes to Country. Even if unofficial.
Representation is an honor, not a choice.

Excellent. No need to play meaningless tours - just test maximum players and get the squads right.

^ How come when it comes to Shakib playing this becomes meaningless? It was meaningful when BD was going door to door and not getting any tours? In fact so much so that BC people created not one but two threads for it!

If a player can't put country first then he should not represent the country at all.

It's not an official match.. SA is also resting their star players !!!

Most importantly this tour was planned suddenly..in fact after Shakib joined IPL.. There was no tour in June and Shakib told wayyy earlier that he won't go for county as he needs a break after IPL ... He was already under the contract with KKR so he had to go there..

Now we should be ashamed to question this man's commitment.. the man who alone has bore the burden of the whole team for straight 4 years and given us many proud moments.. now when he is asking for a break we don't even want to give that????

Of course we wanted the Zim tour but that is for rest of the team who were sitting idle while Shakib was busy playing IPL and applying his skills... This tri nation is just a practice match and our rest of the team members need this practice more than Shakib..

Also he has a side and knee niggles and bronchitis issue which needed to be taken care of before the official Europe tour and T20 WC.. He needs this break to be full fit in the upcoming matches!!

But what surprises me is how quickly we bangalis forget all the dedication and contribution of a man and we are so quick in pointing finger at him the 1st chance we get

^ Quite a passive aggressive argument in line with expectations. I am tired of hearing about stardom and the past. There is a job to be done, and a professional needs to do the job. He gets his fare share of pats on the back - but a professional is a professional.

Emotions and emoticons aside - do your job.

Dereliction of Duty - nothing less.

Seems like a lot of maneuvering going on. Pybus should do the right thing. This is his first test!

I blame BCB for not having a concrete calender of who they are playing and when.

I blame CCDM for not finishing the DPL on time and making a fuss about nothing.

Shakib should have been rested as soon as he came back from KKR that would have given him more than 2 weeks and after he comes back from Zimbabwe he could have had longer break.

Shakib needs a break and deserves it but why did he leave it to late. Secondly if he is injured, he should not participate the last match of the DPL in 2 days time.

My question to Shakib.

Would he have joined Essex County Cricket Club if BCB gave him an NOC ?

The real truth is since those Zimbo matches are unofficial that's why Shakib probably want to skip the tour or may be he is really tired.

These are practice matches and Shakib had enough. Get a young replacement...and give the iceman some break. He has to play and finish off DPL as part of his contract with Victoria. He received 3.5 million taka from Victoroa do he has no choice but to finish the last and final match..
