প্রথম আলো-গ্রামীণফোন ক্রীড়া পুরস্কার অনুষ্ঠানে সমবেত হয়েছিলেন বাংলাদেশের ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের অনেক তারকাই। তবে আজ রূপসী বাংলা হোটেলের উইন্টার গার্ডেনে অনুষ্ঠিত ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের এ মিলনমেলায় বিশেষভাবেই সবার নজর কেড়েছেন সাকিব আল হাসান। ২০০৯ ও ২০১১ সালের বর্ষসেরা ক্রীড়াবিদের পুরস্কারটা উঠেছে বিশ্বসেরা এই অলরাউন্ডারের হাতেই। আফসোস শুধু মাঝের ২০১০ সালটা। প্রথমবারের মতো ক্রিকেট অঙ্গনের বাইরের কোনো খেলোয়াড়ের কাছে গিয়েছে এ পুরস্কারটা। পেশাদারি গলফে বাংলাদেশের হয়ে সম্মান অর্জন করার জন্য ২০১০ সালের বর্ষসেরা হয়েছেন সিদ্দিকুর রহমান।
দুই বছরের বিরতির পর এবার আবার আয়োজিত হয়েছে প্রথম আলো-গ্রামীণফোন ক্রীড়া পুরস্কারের অনুষ্ঠান। আগের দুই বছর ২০০৯ ও ২০১০ সালের সেরা ক্রীড়াবিদ পুরস্কারও দেওয়া হয় এ আলো ঝলমলে আসরে। প্রথমেই ২০০৯ সালের সেরা ঘোষণার পালা। ২০০৮ সালের পর টানা দ্বিতীয়বারের মতো এ পুরস্কারটা পান সাকিব আল হাসান। ২০১০ সালের সেরা ক্রীড়াবিদ পুরস্কারটা ছিল ব্যতিক্রম। এবারই প্রথমবারের মতো ক্রিকেট অঙ্গনের বাইরের ক্রীড়া তারকা গলফার সিদ্দিকুর রহমান পান এ সেরা ক্রীড়াবিদের স্বীকৃতি। ২০১১ সালে আবারও সাকিব। প্রথমেই পান দর্শকদের ভোটে নির্বাচিত সেরা ক্রীড়াবিদের পুরস্কার। শেষে জুরিদের চুলচেরা বিশ্লেষণেও সেরা ঘোষিত হন আইসিসি ওয়ানডে ও টেস্ট র্যাঙ্কিংয়ের শীর্ষ এই অলরাউন্ডার। পুরস্কার নিতে এসে দর্শকদের কিছুটা হাস্যরস উপহার দিলেন সাকিব। বললেন, ‘আমি কিছুটা হতাশ।’ কেন? পরে নিজেই ব্যাখ্যা করলেন ব্যাপারটা। বললেন, ‘আমি মেসির খুব ভক্ত। মেসি টানা তিনবার ফিফা বর্ষসেরা ফুটবলারের পুরস্কার জিতেছে। ভেবেছিলাম আমিও পাব।’ তবে ২০১০ সালের সেরা ক্রীড়াবিদ সিদ্দিকুর রহমানকে অভিনন্দন জানাতে ভোলেননি সাকিব। পুরস্কারটা যে এই গলফারের প্রাপ্য ছিল সেটাও স্বীকার করেছেন।
২০০৬ সালে প্রথম আলো-গ্রামীণফোন ক্রীড়া প্রতিযোগিতার বর্ষসেরা উদীয়মান খেলোয়াড়ের পুরস্কার পেয়েছিলেন সাকিব আল হাসান। প্রতিভা যে আছে সেটা জানান দিয়েছিলেন সেবারই। তারপরের পাঁচটি বছরের মধ্যে তিনবারই বর্ষসেরার মুকুটটি পড়লেন এ বিশ্বসেরা অলরাউন্ডার। বাংলাদেশের ক্রিকেটকে বিশ্ব অঙ্গনে শক্তিশালী অবস্থানে নিয়ে যাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রেও রেখেছেন অগ্রণী ভূমিকা। এখন এ ভালো পারফরমেন্সের ধারাবাহিকতা অব্যাহত রেখে ভবিষ্যতে এই মুকুট আবার পড়তে পারবেন কি না, সেটাই দেখার বিষয়।

সতীর্থদের বিদায় জানাতে সাকিব আল হাসান বিমানবন্দরে নাও যেতে পারেন। তাকে বিমানবন্দরে যাওয়ার জন্য কেউ হয়তো জোরাজুরিও করবে না। তিনি তো আসল কাজটি করে ফেলেছেন, সোমবার মিরপুর শেরেবাংলা জাতীয় ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়ামে এসে সাজঘরে সতীর্থদের উজ্জীবিত করে গেছেন।

জিম্বাবুয়ের ত্রিদেশীয় টি-টোয়েন্টি সিরিজে সবাই যাতে ভালো খেলে সফল হতে পারে, সে মন্ত্র বলে দিয়েছেন শীর্ষ অলরাউন্ডার। ছুটিতে তিনি দেশে থাকলেও মন পড়ে থাকবে জিম্বাবুয়েতে সতীর্থদের কাছে। পেশাদার ক্রিকেটারের এমনই তো হওয়ার কথা।

স্বাগতিক জিম্বাবুয়ে, দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা এবং বাংলাদেশকে নিয়ে ১৭ জুন থেকে হারারেতে হবে ত্রিদেশীয় সিরিজ। ডাবল লিগে চারটি ম্যাচ খেলবে বাংলাদেশ। ফাইনালে উঠতে পারলে আরও একটি ম্যাচ খেলার সুযোগ পাবে। মঙ্গলবার রাত সাড়ে নয়টায় জিম্বাবুয়ের উদ্দেশ্যে রওয়ানা দেবে বাংলাদেশ দল। টি-টোয়েন্টি সিরিজ শুরুর আগে কন্ডিশনের সঙ্গে মানিয়ে নিতে একটি একদিনের ম্যাচ খেলবে সফরকারী দল।

I am curious as to the reactions of the fans and media if Bangladesh were to fail in making the final during the T20 tri-series. I assume there would be some blame directed at Shakib not playing...

Because he got 499 posts in BC on his IPL performance monitoring thread even without playing the tournament... Now imagine .. How many he would have got if he did play! Surely he deserves an award.

considering his contribution to our cricket no1 even comes close. No matter all they hype abt siddikur rahman he will not be a big name in our sports simply because he is not AMONG the best. The reason why our cricket team is famous in our own country because theyve had success and remeber, we are among the top 10 teams in world cricket at least. And as for shakib, he is so popular because he is the best among the best, being top allrounder in both ODIs and T20s is no small feat, and that too with hardly much competition. And whenever he losts the title, he was at least 2nd on the list and returned to the top soon again.

People may claim the reason why sakib is no. 1 allrounder because their are so few quality allrounders nowadays. But they forget the workload of cricket nowadays. PLayers nowadays have to play around the world continuously and shift formats which is not easy. Plus, nowadays being able to field well is a must unlike in the past where players didnt give much care about fielding. So we should salute the present quality allrounders because they are playing yet so much and yet doing the job in both departments, they should deserve some salute. Batting at no. 5 and bowling his full quota takes a lot of toll on your body, so no matter how lazy he is, he is the most animated guy in bangladesh cricket
