I think Shak gave up his hope seeing the lack of fairness and professionalism in every espect of BCB activities and so on.

Giving up hope? This is the last thing you want from your star player. Every player has to play with the spirit to win, and believe that they can win from any situation.
But so far all i have seen is complacency and losing matches from the jaws of victory

lol, this is why I said hold your horses before comparing him with Kallis, Sobers. Tests are the real test and he is nowhere near those guys. But no just one performance doesn't mean anything, lot of overreaction here. Need to be balanced, he is not sobers and he is definitely not jadeja.

Exactly Kallis is in a league of his own. That said I am not as dissappointed as you guys since I kind a guessed Shakib was going to be abysmal with the ball since its been a while that I have noticed how the man himself has been neglecting his bowling.

Um what? People who compare him with Sobers etc. mostly do it out of jest, and intentionally exaggerate their claims. No one seriously thinks he's anywhere near sobers here as far as I'm aware.
And yeah, even if someone did compare him to Kallis/Sobers (which is silly, obviously), this single poor spell proves nothing either way.

Anyhow, I think Shakib's bowling has deteriorated recently - busy schedule and knee injury maybe? Flat pitch I know, but still, very poor by Shak fu standards.

Shakib needs to compensate for his bad bowling and score really big. Like his 144.
He needs to realise that he is the senior player, has the experience and the capacity to play a responsible innings and should play like that. And also, like a top all rounder.

he bowled with little more control today but too flatter (courtesy of too many T20s).. But I think he didn't get any support from the pitch as well... He was afraid to flight the ball or toss up as most of those deliveries were going to the boundaries... Look at Narine's bowling.. even a bowler like Narine couldn't get any turn from the pitch .. Narine is also bowling those flatter deliveries every now and then...
But yes Shakib definitely need to compensate for his bowling... no excuse there...

@Oronnya
He didn't ball flatter coz he was in T20 mode, but to control the flow of runs. Otherwise WI might have got 650+ easy. He bowled flat and varied his pace wicket to wicket. So did Gazi. There was nothing in it at all.

He was very casual with the bat to start with. Was lucky to survive with the miscued shot...then tried a uppercut over the keepers head, like T20. But then slowly calmed down...hope he doesn't get erratic tomorrow morning.....and scores big but slowly constructed like a test innings....

If Shakib can stay first session tomorrow, he will gain his confidence and then we can expect from him a long innings.

Shakib needs to start hitting centuries and I'm expecting a century from him tomorrow. He's got it in him and the team really needs him to deliver tomorrow.

That's the most challenging part !!! It's very easy to get Shakib's wicket. Too many dot balls and he is frustrated then tempt him to go for a shot and catch it.. easy..I will be more than happy if he survives the morning session.
Age 50 koruk tarpore 100/150 .. We shouldn't expect too much from him. He was awful in form in NCL. It was hard to even hit a half century against some ordinary bowlers God knows what he will do against WI bowlers. Specially Sammy who exactly knows how to get rid of Shakib. He didn't decided to declare at 527 just like that. He knows our ability.

Shakib will surely play his shots, but I'm worried about him playing that angled- bat defense and making room and cutting even good length balls. Why on earth would you do that when you can play brilliantly in the V? Please no cross batted shots on a slow pitch, especially the pull.

That was just 1 match. Hard to judge form from just 1 match. Plus he's been known to be a poor performer in domestics. So I'm still hopeful.
