I wont be surprised if Shakib plays couple of 4- Day match. I see 3 possibilty. Against Essex @ Grace. Shakib probably will use that to adjust to the condition. There is one County match right in the middle of T-20 season in Essex, I am sure hundreds of thousand of Londonbashi will be hoping Shakib plays that. And third one is very slim if Leicestershire qualify, which they will even without Shakib, trust me. He may stay on play few matches.

And let me clerify. Up to 4 overseas players can be registered by each team through out the County Season. Only 1 can be in playing XI for County (4-day FC) and CB-40 (List-A). But for T-20 a team can field 2 overseas players.

(This what I know, if there are other small prints I have not read in ECB rulebook please correct me)
so according to the schedule shakib wont face worcs..i was looking forward to that

New team for Shak? Nice! I'm guessing this is right after IPL?

That would've been nice. But I dont think Shak or we should be too upset w/ them. They opened it up for our players. Yes, they were probably dumb to not keep him, but they had Ajmal. And Shak was a bit irresponsible with the bat, esp in those T20 game. I remember the coach or owner was upset with him.

Gayle is the King of T20. He is a destructive force who single handedly can win matches for his team. He is a towering figure within his own team and the opposition. Clubs buy him to win the Championship, one just a game or two.

Shakib is one of the best allrounder in the world, who can also single handedly win matches for his team. Clubs buy him to win Championship too, a fact that couldn't be more evident this year with two of Shakib's T20 teams are champions in their domestic league, Kolkata in IPL and Dhaka in BPL. Fox management wants him to bring that winning experience.

The picture could be a symbolic suggestion that Shakib can do what Gayle does, win matches, win championships. Its not a comparison with Gayle mind you, but just a point of note to the audience that Shakib's impact on this year's tournament could be as colossal as the big Man himself.

Leicestershire: Shakib Al Hasan joins for FL t20

Leicestershire have signed Shakib Al Hasan as their second overseas player for this summer's FL t20 competition.
The Bangladesh star, who bats left-handed and bowls left-arm spin, is currently the world's top-ranked all-rounder in one-day internationals.
The 26-year-old will join Australia A batsman Joe Burns at Grace Road.
"Shakib's record is exceptional and I am looking forward to him helping us to achieve success this year," said head coach Phil Whitticase.
Shakib, who was recently a team-mate of Leicestershire's Josh Cobb in the Bangladesh Premier League, has scored a combined total of more than 4,000 runs and taken over 100 wickets for his country in international one-day and T20 matches.
He also has previous county experience with Worcestershire.

Shakib Al Hasan: Bangladesh's national treasure and one of the finest all-rounders in the world
By Karthik Parimal
On March 24, 2013, 11:24 am

Shakib Al Hasan, born on March 24, 1987, is unarguably Bangladesh’s finest cricketer thus far and one of the finest all-rounders in world cricket. Within a few years of gracing the big stage, he took the cricketing world by storm, both with his batting and bowling abilities. At 25, he led ICC’s Test rankings and trumped many a stalwart. Karthik Parimal looks back at the career of this sterling all-rounder thus far.

Shakib Al Hasan, who turns 26 today, is undisputedly the best cricketer to surface from Bangladesh, not just owing to his talent, but his exemplary conduct as well. One wonders if he would have been a greater force had he played for a stronger team.

A star is born

Shakib made his debut during the final One-Day International (ODI) against Zimbabwe at Harare in August 2006. The series already belonged to the hosts by then, but Shakib played his part in salvaging pride by bowling one of the most economical spells, before chipping in with an innings of 30. Coincidentally, Bangladesh’s current skipper, Mushfiqur Rahim, too made his debut in the same match.

Shakib donned the whites for the first time in May 2007 at Chittagong, against India, and his contributions in that game were minimal. He was roped into the squad because, only a week before his Test debut, and against the same opposition, he had scored a 50 and picked up two wickets in an ODI at Mirpur. That match showed glimpses of the all-rounder he would become in due course of time, but it was to be a while before his first substantial Test performance was penned down.

The purple patch

From the early days of 2008, Shakib was slowly, but surely, emerging as Bangladesh’s mainstay. He registered big scores against lesser nations like Canada and Ireland before and meticulously carried his form against tougher opponents as well. During the tour of Pakistan in April 2008, he finished as the highest run-getter and second highest wicket-taker for his side. Being the weaker team, Bangladesh were whitewashed, but Shakib’s brilliant run raised hopes for his country’s cricketing future.

It was in the winter of 2008, when New Zealand toured Bangladesh, that Shakib’s fame shot through the roof. In a closely-contested Test, in the port city of Chittagong, he all but led his nation to victory. Having restricted the hosts to 245 in the first innings, the Kiwis were bundled out for just 171, thanks to a wizardly spell of seven for 36 from Shakib.
