Tamim Iqbal looks set to miss the rest of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after suffering a 'hairline crack' on his left wrist. An MRI-scan yesterday revealed the extent of the damage and Duronto Rajshahi opener Tamim has been advised to stay out of sports for the next fourteen days ruling him out for the rest of the competition which will end on February 19.
Tamim sustained the injury while fielding in their BPL match against the Sylhet Royals last week. An immediate X-ray ruled out broken bones, but the MRI yesterday revealed that there are some concerns.
It isn't a fracture, so it's not a matter of grave concern. However, he needs to keep his left-arm at rest for the next two weeks at least,” said Dr Debasish Dutta the Bangladesh physio. He however allayed fears that Tamim might not be fit before Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka in March.
Tamim himself was not unduly worried.
“It's a crack in the bone so it will obviously hurt a bit. But I am confident that I will recover. I will be following a strict schedule for the next two weeks as per the doctor's instruction and hopefully things will go well,” said Tamim.
The injury to his left wrist is nothing new from Tamim as he had a surgery on the wrist in 2010.
^Time for a back to back centuries from Tamim in SL.
But on a serious note, this tour is going be the one that need's to be forgotten, sooner the better. Playing SL in BD is difficult, playing SL in SL is scary but playing in SL without Shak and Tamim is downright hopeless.

Bangladesh Cricket Board can breathe a sigh of relief as their opener Tamim Iqbal will be fit ahead of the series against Sri Lanka after having a two-week rest for a hair-line crack in his injured hand.
Tamim sustained the injury during the match between Duronto Rajshahi and Sylhet Royals in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League on February 5 that put him in serious doubt for the series.
Tamim left the field in sheer pain after he was hit by the ball in the 15th over of the Royals’ innings and could not take any further part in the game and missed a couple of matches for his franchise as well.
‘We had his scan done today that revealed a hair-line crack so we decided to give him a two-week rest,’ Debashish Chowdhury, BCB’s chief medical officer, told reporters on Wednesday.
‘We expect him to start batting from February 25 though he can take part in the physical conditioning to keep him fit,’ said Debashish.
Meanwhile, Debashish added that Sakib al Hasan is expected to go on a short-trip to Australia before the series to take a second opinion on his injury.
Sakib has developed an Exertional Compartment Syndrome, an uncommon exercise-induced neuromuscular disorder, which the BCB physiotherapists said could take months to heal completely.

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal speaking on his wrist injury and plans for the Test series after practice at the Matara Sports Club today -
Injury situation
Today I batted against proper spinners. There is some pain still. The kind of injury I am carrying it takes time to heal. If I play in the first Test I may have to endure some discomfort but it is looking better. I will probably not play in the practice match starting tomorrow as the team management feels it may be too early for me to get into a game. I will continue my recovery programme in the mean time. I'll play some medium pacers tomorrow and then maybe quicker bowlers. The physio will try different types of taping in the injured area and we'll see which one makes me most comfortable.
Whether he is prepared to play through the pain
I definitely want to play. The team wants me to play. We are working towards that goal. Unless the injury gets more serious and I see that there is little improvement I am looking forward to appearing in the first Test. Our physio is confident and so am I.
Expectations from the tour
From a personal point of view I want to improve my record here. I have not had a good run in Sri Lanka in the past and that's why it is important for me to do well here.
We have set high standards at home as a team. We have been doing pretty well lately. It is therefore a challenge for us to show that we can be successful away from home also against a good team. We have a strong squad and everyone has worked really hard. It is going to be a good match-up.
Dear Tamim,
Please Shut your mouth and let your Bat speak. You are being a Big Mouth day by day who is useless in field. Talk less in press conference and let your bat to talk in the middle.

Eykhane bolle hobe na re bhai. Tamim er FB page a bolte hobe.
Just watched his century highlights against England at Lord's. He desperately needs to fire. Just too good of a player to hit just 2 Test centuries after that.
