we cant have this attitude anymore...t20 is becoming a stronger version of the game and we have a WC every 2 years..we have one in our land in 2014..if our players suck like this then its a very worrying factor

True dat.

Plus, many times than not T20 is encapsulated in ODI. Say we reach a certain point where about 170 runs required with six wickets in hand in the last 20 overs. Whereas many hard hitting team would prosper, our team would fizz out for not knowing the art and craft of pinch hitting....

Tamim sails, Shakib falls

Sports Reporter

The two Bangladeshi cricketers participating in the Friends Life t20 Championship in England had wildly contrasting days yesterday, as Tamim Iqbal's 37-ball 47 led Nottinghamshire to a 6-wicket win over Yorkshire at Leeds, while Shakib Al Hasan's poor showing with bat and ball contributed to Worcestershire losing to Durham by 28 runs at Chester-le-Street.

Tamim, opening the innings in Nottinghamshire's chase of a victory target of 153, blazed away from the start to hit five 4s and two 6s, giving the innings crucial momentum. When he departed the score had already reached 102 in only 12.4 overs. Thereafter, Chris Read and Scott Elstone combined in an unbeaten 51-run partnership to take Nottinghamshire home with 11 balls to spare.

Elsewhere Shakib suffered another bad day with bat and ball, giving away 35 runs in his four overs for the solitary wicket of Ian Blackwell as Durham ran up a formidable total of 161 in their 20 overs. Blackwell was the highest scorer in Durham's innings with 77.

In reply, Worcestershire were in trouble against the cutters of England allrounder Paul Collingwood whose four wickets included that of Shakib for a first-ball duck, as his team were bowled out for 133.

Tamim Injury Scare...

The Bangladesh national team has been hit by another injury scare before their tour to Zimbabwe as opener Tamim Iqbal complained of a groin injury shortly after joining the camp on Tuesday.

Tamim picked up the injury during his penultimate game for Nottinghamshire in the Friends Life Twenty20 tournament in England.

‘I was feeling some pain in my groin since my second last game in England,’ Tamim told New Age. ‘I told it to BCB doctor Debashish Chowdhury and he advised me a week’s rest.’

Debashish Chowdhury, BCB’s chief medical officer, brushed aside any danger and said he should be okay within a week.

‘Usually it takes two weeks to recover from this kind of groin injury, but already a week has passed, so hopefully he will be alright by next week,’ said Debashish
