I think tamim is giving too much credit to sakib. Remember, tamim wasnt picked in the auction which means he wasnt in contention for being picked by any team despite sakib's perf. He got chance because he showed what class he is in Asia Cup....and thats that.
If the others player perform, they too can get IPL contract

True that. You create your own fate. For a BD cricketer, if you don't perform well you get no rice (bhat nai)

But you see tamim did mention that he was at his peak form before (during england tour) but was not selected in ipl4. because before that no bd player could sustain the heat in ipl, after shakib performed well he certainly paved a way to show bd players are competetive outside their territory. yes you always need to perform to be considered but if you get that extra support it makes things much easier. and its good to acknowledge someone even for the smallest favour.

Smith is out of IPL due to injury. May be a blessing in disguise for Tamim.

Highly doubt that, I think Manish pandey, uthappa or most likely Ryder(if picked) will open the innings. Gang. will most prob. come 1 down/2 down

Even after shakib's stint, Tamim didnt get a SINGLE bidder in the auction, so I dont think shakib's stint did any good to him. However, only after doing exceptionally well in Asia cup did tamim get a chance
I do agree to certain extent about oaving a way, but Tamim and shakib are 2 class acts and its up to them to pave way for Nasir and few others

$Pune Warriors'opener Graeme Smith is ruled out of upcoming IPL. So Tamim has bright chance to be in playing XI.

Just imagine the kind of following Kolkata Knight Riders would have generated if they had Ganguly, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal playing together. It would probably have been the franchise with the biggest following, with West Bengal and Bangladesh combining to form a massive fan base. Warriors needed someone like Tamim at the top. For all his newfound penchant of playing the long innings in ODIs, Tamim can explode at will, and when he is in full flow, there are few better sights in the game. Authoritative cover drives and graceful clips, Tamim has all the strokes at his disposal.

I discovered the blog "Leg Side Filth" from a link provided in one of Cricinfo's articles and I was quite impressed by the author's erudite posts. I found an article that he wrote about seeing Tamim at Old Trafford that was particularly gratifying as a BD and Tamim fan:
" Tamim the Untamable"

Ryder
Wright
Ganguly[c]
Ferguson
Uthappa[wk]
Manish Pandey
Mohnish Mishra

I think they might opt for Tamim over Ryder, who hasnt played cricket for a while and is with the excess baggage.
Tamim is in-form, knows the subcontinent pitch well and will be favoured in my opinion.

I think so too but don't forget that Pune have a couple of very good Indian openers in Uthappa and Pandey. It could happen that they might start with them instead of picking either Tamim or Ryder.

Out of those 7, I think it's obvious that Steve Smith won't get a chance and then I think Alfonso Thomas will most probably not play. So that brings the number down to 5. Ferguson, Parnell, and Ryder are pretty much locks. So in the end it could be down to Tamim and Wright. Let's hope that Tamim ends up winning out a spot. He has a pretty solid chance at making his IPL debut.
