I think it's about time we stop hairsplitting and try to enjoy the videos of a great cricketer.

The '92 World Cup was when I started watching cricket. Back then, I had no idea how lucky I was to be able to watch the likes of Khan, Miandad, Dev, Crowe, Gooch, Boon, Botham and Border in their last World Cup.

I read Imran's biography and thoroughly enjoyed it.

You both are welcome.

I have not watched the video yet...I will! But, I have nothing but respect for Imran on and off the field. This man certainly knows how to hold his owns and be original in his approach and thoughts. Not many have graced the Cricket World like Imran had!

I am surprised that calling him Sir became a bigger issue than his career/cricketing life.
I have been watching him since Reliance Cup, the first World Cup I watched live.
That was the end half and most successful parts of his career.

Is there any authorized institution beside the Queen of England for offering Knighthood? Yes or no, we can crown him as 'Sir' even if the Queen of England forgot to do so. I used to be a fan of Imran untill I realized that I should not support Pakistan.

Thanks One World, I enjoyed watching the video.

I think Imran should be remembered more as a captain, how he turned Pakistan team into a fighting unit, than as an individual cricketer. Then again, a captain is most effective when he is capable of leading from the front with individual performances.

Despite my personal bias' and hatred (at one time) of everything PAK, I could not but admire this great cricketer and captain. He opened me up to appreciating the game more and seperating the cricket from my personal political views.

I grew up with cricket during the Hadlee/Khan/Dev/Botham era and am I thankful I got to witness that.

Because I think, he is supposed to get this title. I am surprised why he didn't get it. If Ian Botham can be Sir Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee can be Sir Richard Hadlee than Imran Khan must be Sir Imran Khan. Imran Khan's contribution to Pakistan Cricket is never less contribution than those two. From some point of view he is greater than those two. As a Captain, he can easily be called as one of the all time best captain of cricket history. I didn’t see anyone has that in depth cricket knowledge like him in Pakistan.

That’s why I was curious.

A Pakistani cannot be knighted because Queen is not the head of their state (Pakistan).

Good points. While watching the video it became more clarified that the contribution of Imran cannot be adjudged to a nation which you may not like for their political behavior towards us, but should be considered as an individual who possess the best human qualities and sportsmanship that makes a man separate with accolades.

I consent to your question and you are right on the money, several sites mentions that foreign individuals can be knighted as well if the selection committee selects and the Queen conjures.

No you do not. Nor are honors restricted to Britons (i.e. The English, Scots, Welsh, Irish or Cornish peoples).

It is not correct that only Britons may style themselves "Sir" or "Dame" if awarded honors by the Crown.

To begin with there are orders of Knighthood that are specifically for non-British territories such as the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India and The Most Illustrious Order of St. Patrick. While these orders are no longer active they theoretically still exist.

Whether a non-Briton uses the title will depend on their citizenship and the laws of their home country.

Note that this person himself owns a title.

Queen of England is still head of state for many West Indian countries, as well as for Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Apart from the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II is also Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, and Saint Kitts and Nevis, where she is represented by Governors-General. The 16 countries of which she is queen are known as Commonwealth Realms

Nice to know. Thanks to all for the information. That’s why I was wondering all the time, why players like Imran Khan, Sunil Gavasker, Javed Miandad, Kapil Dev didn’t get the knighthood?

Many thanks again to all of you.
