Default Math Club

This thread is to challenge each other with math problems.First someone asks a math question then everyone else tries to guess/find the right answer.After that question is answered,someone else asks a question and so on.I'll start it off.

Q #1

Find the values for x,y,and z,so that all of the following statements are true.

*y > x , z < y, and x < 0

*z /(divided by) 2 and Z / 3 are integers

*x / z = -z (negative Z incase u missed the sign)

*x / y = z

Took me about 5 mins to find the answer.

Can one demonstrate whether NP-problems are actually P-problems?

While you are at it, prove that every number > 2 is the sum of three primes. My friend Goldbach considers 1 to be prime.

I was about to write the proof, but I don't think the space here is enough notwithstanding it may be constituted as spam.

Sigh! Do I really have to resuscitate another dying thread?

Here you go: math picup lines courtesy of boss:

Top Ten Math Major Pick-Up Lines

10. You fascinate me more than the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.
9. Since distance equals velocity times time, let's let velocity or time approach infinity, because I want to go all the way with you.
8. My love for you is like a concave up function because it is always increasing.
7. Let's convert our potential energy to kinetic energy.
6. Wanna come back to my room....and see my 733mhz Pentium?
5. You and I would add up better than a Riemann sum.
4. Your body has the nicest arc length I've ever seen.
3. I wish I was your derivative because then I would be tangent to your curves.
2. I hope you know set theory because I want to intersect you and union you.

Ok, I got one.

(X-a) x (X-b) x (X-c) x........x (X-y) x (X-z) = ?
[Clue: You don't need to do serious multiplication to find out the answer, there's a trick in here]

Btw, the capital X's refer to the variable; and small x's refer to the multiplication sign.

It is 0.

Because (X-a) x ............ x (X-X)........... x (X-z)

Anything multiplication with 0 = 0

Next Please.

When does (-2)/3 = integers? Am I missing something here? integers have different meaning than whole numbers?

Your answer was

y=10, x= -5 (negative 5), z= -2 (negative 2)
???
(-5) / (-2) = +2. ???

Since we're discussing nerds, this is how Miraz bhai and his big bro pick up chicks in downtown Vegas:

When ONE plus ONE makes it THREE (or more)?

How you justify this in simple Math?

HA HA EPIC FAIL by SBASH. I guess next time you would want to spend more than five minutes to solve a problem. And you should also learn to check your work before posting.

By the way Tiger's Eye, I think you only got part of the answer. I think the answer might be the following:

z= -6n(where n is any positive integer)

y= -z

x= -(z^2) or better known as negative z squared
