Default analyze this

If the media reports are to be believed, Jahurul has more than an even chance of debuting in the Dhaka test. You would expect everyone to be anxious to find out if Jahurul could fill the gaping holes in our chronically failing top order. But more people seem to be asking the question, " Is Jahurul replacing Mushfiq behind the stumps?"

This encapsulates the perennial short-sightedness that has derailed our progress. Mushfiq doesn't cut it as a test keeper. So let's replace him with someone who is the third best keeper in his club team. Surely, he'll come out with flying colors.

Even if Jahurul exhibits the reflexes of a flying shaolin kungfu master, would it mean anything in the next series? It doesn't make any sense, whichever way you look at it. Anyone with a modicum of cricketing knowledge would conclude that we have two options regarding the "Mushfiq dilemma." Either back him to succeed or give the gloves over to a specialist wicket-keeper. If Jahurul is a better keeper than Mushfiq, then it begs the question why Dhiman, Sahagir and Shahin among others have been higher in the pecking order. I would also question Siddons acumen, if he is behind this move.

Batsmen turned tail-enders and now wicket keepers. Nice.

As I said another thread, Siddons is setting Jahurul up for a failure. The guy should be using the time before the 2nd Test preparing to face short pitched deliveries, not wasting half of the time in nets practicing keeping.

Dhiman Ghosh was the best choice. He also scored some runs in NCL final and looked promising.
Btw can a wktkeeper be interchanged with another player from main 11 during match time?

according to the newspapers, he might keep if he is picked in the XI. And that is where I can't see the point, we already have specialist batsmen till no.8. Even the best test teams have maximum 7 specialist batsmen, we should pick specialists rather than batsmen who can bowl, batsmen who can keep etc. We need to find a specialist keeper and/or a specialist 4th bowler.

first of all there are lot of confusions created by our media.

people like to read gossip and they like to read new gossips. thats why these newspapers will come up with lots of gossips.

now i went for a walk around SNBS last afternoon and saw shahadat walking around with a bat in hand. so what i do now ??? should I say that SHAHADAT will be opening batsman with TAMIM ???

jahurul is an occasional WK. perhaps team management wanted to see how good he is ??? thats why gave him a practice in nets. they were looking is he good enough to replace mushfik or good enough to just be back up or good enough for none.

now certainly he was not called in the squad for his wicket keeping. when raqibul retired they decided to bring jahurul as hid replacement. selectors wanted a batsman, that why jahurul was called up not dhiman or pavel. now as he is in the squad ppl are thinking whether he could also do some keeping.

and finally i think, he is an opener. and i want him to play as an opener. other wise no pint playing 4 openers in tamim, imrul, jahurul and junaid.

I am also thinking like you probably team management was just checking the quality of Jahurul as a keeper and newspapers has over hyped the matter.
Another point is Mushy is a crap as a keeper and Jahurul was the full time keeper of Biman in last DPL so its not impossible that Jahurul and Mushy have same calibre as a keeper.

Rafi,

No. A substitute cannot put the gloves on.
