What style? The dhur mia or the sentence that followed it? The first - is perfectly fine colloquial usage, akin to idk, jez or wtf that we use in English. The sentence that follows is standard Bangla, not even a regional dialect. Or are you whingeing about using transliterating in Roman script?

See, I can't explain why it bothers me. It's one of those things. It's not just the "Dhur mia" or the sentence.

Then you've not grown up in a Bangla speaking environment right? Your parents may have migrated so long ago that their Bangla mannerisms and idiosyncrasies are that from decades ago and you grew up hearing that. As linguistic anthropology is a hobby of mine, this is interesting to me.

^ People already do that. Doesn't bother me, but makes me feel old.
Z, yes, and semi yes, but is that why? Along with that "Mexican English" could easily kill my mood. But not Indian accent though. Probably because I make fun it.

That Banglalink tune grew in to me so much I edited it and converted it to ringtone using a free app for iphone, sounds really good. I am not sure if it will work with other phone.

I have to agree. I wonder if this is a cultural thing where supposedly grown-up members start acting out like passive-aggressive teenagers. Usually, by grown-up, I would have categorized anyone 20+ but that is usually not the case in Bangladesh since children are so often molly-coddled and treated like children well into their 20s. But I see folks in their 30s and 40s acting as if they were pimple-popping middle-schoolers, throwing tantrums at the first instance someone disagrees with them. Every criticism or contrary argument become a personal affront to them and they lash out in anger. Do remember that the person you are responding to is just that - a person. Of flesh and blood and just like you is here on BC because they care about Bangladesh cricket ad have passion for Bangladesh cricket. Would you have said what you did if you were sitting and having tea with the person in some stall by the road?
And the moderators here on BC are not evil dementors out to get you. They are all volunteers here - all people like you with passion for Bangadesh cricket. They are here because they care about Bangladesh cricket and want to make this forum a safe and welcoming place to follow and discuss our passions without the dross that populate most forums. The moderators are folks just like you work, life, and family. Do please cut them some slack when they cannot react instantly or when they do react. Either case they get brick-batted by all and sundry. They can't win can they?
There seems to be a sense of entitlement with some here. Let go of it. Even worse is when some exhibit behavior that can only be expressed with a Bangla word: কৃতঘ্ন
It's a shame.
PS: Nadim - nothing directed at you at all. Your comment was just the catalyst for my outburst.

Ya thanks a lot Nadim! You poked the bear!
Well I'm in my 40s and sometimes even I get carried away, but not by attacking other members, rather acting like a pimple-popping middle schooler.

Arrey, give Dilu Miah a break. Helen Mirren is a relatively spry young thing after all. Now me, I have unrequited crushes on Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.
